If you're seeing this you're in my scraps.This is the face of the new Tyler to be enrolled in sometime soon.
I tried to keep face features as much as posiible.
I kept:
- the down-turned mouth.
- long nose
- big eyes, actually not as big as the original, and still blue.
- I changed the hair color since he's no longer supposed to be a Prinplup. And made it more "surfer's hair" cuzz that's another thing he'll keep. Being not a water pokemon, but a water myth creature, a Selkie.
- I deminished the facial hair since he's supposed to be 16.
Hope he looks the age btw.
Whoever sees it, please tell me what you think.
Not only on the drawing improvement part but the changes i made and the things i kept from the original. And if he looks 16 or maybe 17?.
This time around, i'm trying this thing where i'm giving him (hopefully) recognizable face features and i will try to stick with them. The down-turned lips which are most noticeable with the slightly open mouth like this as opposed to the closed mouth he has on hos drake acad app [link] The size and shape of the eyes. The top to eyes to nose to mouth to chin ratios. the thickness of the eyebrows width and length of the nose. Idk, I guess i'll know if i'm doing it right whenever i draw him next in a different angle. (drake app doesn't count cuzz i drew them in the same canvas and put one lineart over the other for reference
).All this so hopefully even if i draw him in different clothes or with a different position of his the hair, he will still be recognizable.

estoy checando su galeria compañera, ud tiene un estilo bastante chido.

la cara de inocente es porque no es muy brillante, siempre anda confundido y se distrae bien facil. tiene desorden de deficit de atencion.

haha, es que si el personaje es perfecto no es divertido interpretarlo.
Tyler es perfecto a simple vista, es un atleta (nadador para su antigua escuela), popular, adinerado y bueno con las chavas. Pero es flojo, se busca peleas aunque no pelea muy bien que digamos, es claustrofobico y para colmo surdo. XP

hahahah no es buscapleitos en si sino que se molesta facilmente. Y lo claustrophobico le viene de haber sido capturado por cazadores convertido en foca una vez pero su padre lo compró a los cazadores antes de que le hicieran algo porque de niño lo rastreaba con GPS cuando se convertia y asi lo encontró a tiempo.
Haha no habia pensado en una causa para su claustrophobia asi que gracias porque asi ya tendre algo para decir si alguien le pregunta en la acdemia Drake, eso lo acabo de inventar, le daré mas detalles luego

Nope solo en una foca. El es un Selkie. Los selkies son focas que pueden quitarse su piel para convertirse en humanos y se vuelven a convertir en focas poniéndose la piel, dice la leyenda que las mujeres Selkies si son capturadas en forma humana se ven forzadas a ser la pareja del cazador pues este les esconde la piel para evitar que vuelvan al mar. Ese fue el caso de la mama de Tyler, pero el señor con el que se caso era adinerado y por lo tanto la mama de Tyler (que estaba embarazada) se hizo a la idea que era lo mejor para su hijo y no vive amargada sino que aprendió a disfrutar de la vida humana. Por tanto Tyler es un Selkie que disfruta ser humano y esta muy poco relacionado con el estilo de vida selkie.
Los selkies son un mito del norte de Europa. De hecho Tyler es escocés. Ahi me vez tratando de incorporar frases británicas y escocesas en el ingles de Tyler

en mi ID? es un brush de pasto, nomas le doy los colores del rango entre otras cosas que se le mueven en el photoshop y dibujo la forma, hehe soy mas flojo para la manipulación que para el dibujo, cuando dibujo si hago cabello por cabello.

see soy yo haha, es que lei y no entendí y si de la foto de cosplay hable yo tambien. te dijo que es un brush de pasto, se le ajusta el rango de colores y el espaciado (para que no salga continuo) No es barba de verdad en lo mas minimo.
Y sobre el cabello por cablello ps ya tengo el tablet bien rallado haha pero no se me hace gran trabajo ps es el mismo movimiento varias veces

Thanks, so far with Antoine (my other char) i kept drawing him differently every time, but since he looked like a certain pokemon with the red hair and crazy-shaped beard it didn't matter that much. yeah i totally did, i'm kinda intrigued to see if the Selkies get along. There are 3 so far so... Also this group came first, and also i hadn't done anything that doesn't fall into the fanart category before. So it's a lot of reasons.

Oh I see! I still think you should try for the one you want more, even though you would have to change Tyler in any case! But as you mentioned, maybe a break from pokémon may be healthy for your creativity? 8D

yeah, i'm decided this time. Drake is the next step, i'm excited to play a Scottish guy, although it's diffficult cuzz they have so many regional differences. And i don't want him to be from Glasgow which is where the more recognizable Scottish idioms are from. But rather from the highlands which would be closer to Gaelic roots, since Selkies are from Gaelic mythology.

well i can't overdo it or it'll come across very phony, there's no way to show accents (well there is one way, which is to use spellings that convey the accent, but that's just dumb imo, i don't like it), so only idioms, and i haven't found many so it's NOT gonna be quite the different experience to read. I'll just replace yes, no and can't for aye, nae and cannae a lot and some other stuff I've found. Like using progressive verbs more often that normal (they usually say "i'm wanting something" instead of "i want something").
I'll also find an occasion to draw him in a kilt just for the lulz

I'm trying to learn to keep features intact when i draw characters, so the first thing i did with this one is a very detailed reference. so i can go back to it and try to make the char look like itself the next time i draw it. I'll see how that works out.
It's great to hear it's appealing, given i spent all afternoon on it, tweaking and fixing
I thought i wasn't gonna be able to pull off black hair with the technique i use, because it looked like shit at first (just the darker colors added), but the lighter colors really brought it home, i was unsure of how it was gonna turn out since lighter colors aren't black obviously, but i looks like black, i was blown away
