Something I did for my wife's birthday. Honestly, I eventually found myself overwhelmed, technique-wise; I wasn't quite sure how to describe the London city by darkness. I also found that my usual tricks for coloring with depth didn't look right on the characters from full view of this composition.

So I left Peter and Wendy flat colored, a lot like the Disney animation process did (which isn't to compare myself at all to how good those guys and girls were). I'll probably update the description of London, but for now this is my final piece.

Things that did go right: I'm pleased I mostly captured, or at least implied, that Disney night sky. I think the clock looks pretty good, despite some obvious issues of proportion and detail. And I love the way Peter afloat in the air, and Wendy's dress is billowing slightly as she near the edge of the clock arm - about to tip into fantasy. Or, ya know, something.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Hello! I hope you still look at this website, but I'm doing this Disney Trivia promotion poster for my boss and copyright is so hard to bypass. Could I use this beautiful piece you've done? I was wanting to snip it to Peter's hand and the background with the stars. I will of course give credit and show you before I send it to my GM.
Thank you!

What the heck makes Wendy such a popular character in Peter Pan's stories?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

xneverwonderlandx In reply to Shellquake [2016-04-13 02:21:06 +0000 UTC]

She's an original character, why would she not be a popular character?

Shellquake In reply to xneverwonderlandx [2016-04-13 06:01:53 +0000 UTC]

Peter is the titled character, he should've been centered through out the stories and films. And it should've been about his life and adventures, not growing up or what not.

Barrie was a really lousy author, coming up plots like that. Just because his older brother died as an infant that was no reason to write about a boy who never age, how kids act or death or anything like that.

I'd stick with Syfy's Neverland and Starcathers series, at least they tell the real story to Peter's life.

xneverwonderlandx In reply to Shellquake [2016-04-14 04:42:33 +0000 UTC]

You see, there's your mistake. The REAL story of Peter Pan is by James Barrie. Peter and the Starcatchers series was BASED on Peter Pan, so you see, if Peter Pan did not exist, if this so called lousy author did not make 'Peter and Wendy' your precious 'real' story to Peter's life wouldn't have existed now would it? Wendy is an important part to the whole story in question, she was there before Molly was. I mean logically, not physically where in the book Molly came first because Molly is Wendy's mother, but she was there before Peter and the Starcatchers.

So don't go dissing other people's creations with your useless opinion on things, it won't change Peter Pan lover's thoughts and your comment is only a prick in other people's sides. Please keep your un-needed opinions to yourself before you hurt someone's feelings.Β

Oh and by the way it's not 'Starcathers' it's 'Starcatchers' get it right you uncultured swine!Β

Shellquake In reply to xneverwonderlandx [2016-04-14 06:12:15 +0000 UTC]

Well sure Barrie was the one to come up with the story, but THE POINT IS he should've focused the entire story on PETER HIMSELF.

I'm not dissing or hurtingΒ anybody. And I'm not looking to change minds. I'm giving a personal opinion on what I think of the series.

And I'd watch whoΒ IΒ call a swine if I would you.

And F.I.Y. I was asking DaveJorel, not you. So don't answer for him/her.

Your un-needed opinion IS hurting people, haven't you ever heard of the saying, ''If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all "'? Plus, Barrie's story Peter Pan WASN'T just about Peter himself, it's character development. Wendy, Captain Hook, Tigerlily, even the Lost Boys & and Tinkerbell are important. Without them it's just about a boy who flies around Neverland that never grows up.Β

Your Wendy hate is useless, you shouldn't go around commenting on beautiful Pendy artworks just because you want to share your horrid opinion on the story.Β

And excuse me, I can go on like this for days and months, I WILL call you an uncultured swine if I want to, and I am NOT answering for DaveJorel, I simply saw your stupid comment and decided to justify it. What you are doing is entirely wrong, it disappoints me that you don't see what you're doing.Β

Shellquake In reply to xneverwonderlandx [2016-04-15 01:37:35 +0000 UTC]

Then that's exactly what the story should've been titled,Β Peter Pan,Β The boy who flies, that's it, like Harry Potter, the boy who lived, simple as that.

I have no hatred forΒ the character of Wendy, more of the personalities she's beenΒ given.

I'm NOT writing to you anymore. There's nothing to say let alone talk about if no one would ever listen, and there never will be.Β

yea, I blame the new Tinkerbell movies, they have her being so nice and talking instead of making bell noises, oh well I'll never forget because i love how Tink is tiny, curvy and feisty just like my fiancee lol

lol, I remember when the first Tinkerbell movie came out and my little cousin wanted to see it. Afterwards I spent the next hour rewatching old disney movies and showing her. I kept saying "THIS is a movie. THAT is the real Tinkerbell. Don't fall for the LIES!"Β

yea its true, it almost seems like these movies arent part of neverland, just a movie made to sell more dolls and shirts and coloring books. however my girlfriend showed me the trailer of the pirate fairy one and im glad we will get to see a young hook and baby tick tock the crocodile lol hopefully the next sequel will show us how tinkerbell met peter

Yeah, actually a new tv show based off of a comic book is starting up. It's called Peter Panzerfaust. It's set in World War II, where Peter is a freedom fighter. It's awesome!

yea i heard about that, ill have to check it out. i;ll try any show or movie about peter, most of them are good too except this new cgi BBC peter pan is kinda ok, and that jake and the pirates cartoon is crap lol

BritChix In reply to Kon998877 [2014-01-14 19:00:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, most of them don't carry that original spark of Neverland. I mean "Second Star to the Right"? Their are two, they could just say the one on the left. That's CHILDISH logic for you XD Love it <3

BritChix In reply to Kon998877 [2014-01-14 20:28:22 +0000 UTC]

True. But I have to say, my favorite two Peter Pan run offs were BBC's "Neverland" and then "Hook". Those two really captured the childish wisdom and fun of the story in my opinion

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kon998877 In reply to BritChix [2014-01-14 21:05:29 +0000 UTC]

oh yea, Neverland was pretty good for a sci-fi origin of all the characters, had some great special effects. seems that guy is becoming typecast as villains who chase after young heroes named peter lol and even tho the premise of peter growing up is dumb, Spielberg did a great job with the scenery and it has the same tone of the Disney movie, i always loved the little detail of the giant compass that's under the ocean near the island like it would appear on a map.
