Description I played with the lighing and this Enterprise turned out really good (for my taste), so I made a background for it in Photoshop and this is what I got.

Enjoying the technicality arguments going on here. Also love what you've done, it is really beautiful. I can see why people want it in print!

no its not, its actually the 6th, the first enteprise was the NX-01 from Star Trek: Enterprise, led by Captian Jonathan Archer, then it was the original NCC-1701, but it blew up in Star Trek III, and in the end of Star Trek IV, the NCC-1701-A was constructed, which was used in V and VI, then in Star Trek Generations, the NCC-1701-B was launched, and it cut 70 years later during TNG, where the NCC-1701-D, aka this one here, but there was one before, NCC-1701-C, so thats
1 = NX-01
2 = NCC-1701
3 = NCC-1701-A
4 = NCC-1701-B
5 = NCC-1701-C
6 = NCC-1701-D (This one)

Only a true Trekky would know that.......HA!!!

Actually, Majin-Natsu has a good point in his reply to my post above. It all depends on whether you're counting every Starfleet ship, every Federation ship, or every starship ever to be called Enterprise. If you're counting every single starship Enterprise, then it's the 7th. There was a Declaration class Enterprise before the NX-01.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

groo567 [2011-12-01 20:52:28 +0000 UTC]

Are you sure this is the fifth? My counting goes:
1. NX class
2. Constitution class (1701)
3. Another Constitution class (1701-A)
4. Excelsior class (1701-B)
5. Ambassador class (1701-C)
6. Galaxy class (1701-D)

Looking it up on Wikipedia I learned that "technically" there's one before NX even, the Declaration class, but since it wasn't in any of the shows I don't blame anyone including myself for not knowing about it.

So I'm guessing if you didn't miscount then you were only using ships labelled NCC-1701 and leaving out the NX class?

...Looking at what I just typed here I realize I'm a bigger nerd than I previously realized. xD

The 1701-D's dedication plaque clearly states it as being the FIFTH STARSHIP to bear the name, and the 1701-E's marks it as being the SIXTH. Β Nowhere on the plaques are the words Federation starship to bear the name, or Starfleet vessel to bear the name, they just say "Fifth Starship" and "Sixth Starhip". Β
The ships are numbered thus:

1) NCC-1701Β
2) NCC1701-A
3) NCC-1701-B
4) NCC-1701-C
5) NCC-1701-DΒ
6) NCC-1701-E

The arrival of the NX-01 Enterprise messed things up the established continuity by A) introducing an Enterprise that until that moment had never existed (no image of it in TMP or model in TNG); and B) saying Starfleet existed in 2151 when it had already been established as being founded in 2161 (created alongside the Federation).

The only explanation lies with the Temporal Cold War, as it was revealed that alternate timelines could be created. Β The NX-01 is an alternate timeline, which explains why Daniels was so happy to reveal so much to Archer (aren't temporal agents supposed to stay out of sight, and erase any memory of their existence from the minds of those they encounter?).

Majin-Natsu In reply to groo567 [2012-10-23 09:33:52 +0000 UTC]

technically it's all 3 the 5th, 6th and 7th allow me to explain

with the Declaration class (i'm gonna call it DC class for ease) and NX class it's the 7th starship Enterprise but the DC class ship wasn't part of Starfleet so it's only the 6th "Starfleet" ship named enterprise but that was before the Federation so it's only the 5th "Federation" starship called Enterprise

so as you see it is all three (i wonder what the Enterprise D would look like in the new alternate reality?)

Good point, hadn't thought about that. The artist must be only counting the ones that belonged to the Federation.

can you pitch the bow down a bit, let the lighting play over the hull plates?

the idea is to show off a bit of the mottled look that's produced by the plates slightly differing colors.

same background is cool.

Lovely shot of the Galaxy Class right here. The only problem I have is the lack of torpedo launcher at the bottom of the neck. Considering this is a frontal view, it is easily noticed.

Other than that though, lighting, angle, background etc. Looks superb.
