err correction the DS1 was destroyed by that " glorified farmboy." The DS2 was destroyed by Lando Calrissian in the Millennium Falcon.

As far as I'm concerned this is no different than a couple of capital ships from the star wars universe attacking the death star. The one thing I will give these Trek ships is that they're much, much faster than the slower, plodding cruisers from the GFFA. That would definitely give them an edge in being able to hit the death star hard and fast!
Their best plan of attack would be to bombard the station with strafing runs of phaser blasts and photon/quantom torpedos and send the Defiant in to take out the reactor. Ooooh, you know that would be exciting.

What would make this better is a more dramatic angle... If the camera was in the middle of the fleet or something, similar to the camera angle used in Episode IV when the Rebel fleet was attacking the first death star. What planet is that?

Those are actually "TOS-Mirandas", derived from the speculation that the Miranda class seen in TWOK and onwards underwent the same kind of refit as the Constitution class...

The saucers look like the refit type Constitutions from what I can see, but from my understanding, the Miranda's were go-betweens when it was decided refitting Constitutions wasn't cost effective. Though I would have to find that source to be positive (was a cool book too...need to remember what it was now...had awesome schematics and everything for all kinds of those ships).
