Nocturnal moths fly in spirals with respect to the position of the moon. Different species have different angles which appear to be genetically determined. Artificial lights mess them up no end, as the light source is closer than they could ever be to the moon and usually hot. Not all moths are nocturnal, but lots of diurnal animals (us included) navigate with respect to the position of the sun. Bees definitely do.

apparently the moon is moving away from the planet earth at about 3cm per year
i don't think anyone can make the same accurate measurements about the earth and the sun, but last years summer was decidedly cooler
