up and up the social ladder
getting further and further away from the ground
high flyer
high society
getting above it all
and looking down
on all the pain and suffering
and thinking
i am glad i am above it all
oblivious to the fact
that you are part of the cause
of all of the pain and suffering
obsessed by the fact, that another step
will take you further away from it

[my point here is just the idea; that perhaps life would be better if we worked to make things better for all, rather than for just ourselves and those closest to us... in such a society the selfish ones would be worse off rather than better off than those who were more humane, because life would be less driven by greed and power]
