First - props for NOT being a photo manipulation. I love the medium that you chose, and the colors are vibrant, and very fitting for the content. By far, one of the better entries that I've seen...
Now for my crit: This is good, but it can be far better. The executioners stance is stagnant, and lifeless, and appears that he's just holding the battle axe, not swinging it. Second crit, make the battle axe itself larger - especially the blade.
IMHO this entry could win by itself, but I believe that you can do far better. I've entered in this contest as well, but mine was half hearted, and in a rush due to other committments, but at the same time it was FUN...I personally dont care WHO wins - as long as they are deserving - and i have NO problem helping others win...anyway - great job - but i honestly think you can do better, and really blow this contest out of the water.

Personally tho, I dont believe i would make a very good art director - because i have a tendency to be TOO nice sometimes.
And thank YOU for the compliments - but I'm just another artist trying to make his mark on the world, no matter how slight. I draw stuff...and I envy your skills as a painter - for that is one area where i lack patience, and skill...so kudos to you!
