I haven't drawn an starfighter for a long time, and I was afraid I have become rusty. After spending an entire night grinding through making this design I think I made everything I wanted to illustrate.

The design of this X-Wing, especially with its weapons placement was done in response to the analysis and critique made by both Spacedock and Sacred Cow Shipyards. The flaw in the original X-wing was the Parallax Error, in that if the farther away your weapons was placed from your aiming system, the harder it is to get the weapons on target. This in comparison makes the TIE fighter and N-1 starfighter somewhat better starfighters because of their weapons placement.

With the original X-wing weapons place so far away in a wide angle on each wing, it will be very hard or impossible for them to hit a target that comes up close in front of the craft. Although, in Spacedock's breakdown video, it was explained that the weapons were placed so far away from each other to prevent overheating too quickly. Although another point to be made by Spacedock that in the Star Wars universe the "Rule of Cool" usually overrides logic when it comes ship design. Although, I believe Sacred Cow Shipyards was so infuriated by this fact that he outright insults fans who loved the design of the X-Wing.

Other people have argued that if you simply swapped the engines and weapons placement of the X-Wing its appearance would become too much like a Starfury starfighter from Babylon 5, which others have also said when commenting on my Avenger X Starfighter design. Link to the artwork is below.

In this design I sought to rectify those errors by placing the weapons system on the front nose of the craft, each with their own dedicated power source and advance cooling system, the proton torpedo launchers on the other hand, there are four of them and are mounted on each wing. The engines are inspired by the T-85 W-wing model, the difference is that when the wings are folded the engines can rotate 90 degrees for vertical liftoff and are supplemented by four extra thrusters further back at the end of the craft itself.
