Description
Just a preview of the XP Visual Style that I am currently working on, based on the 'Aurora' colour scheme of windows vista.What do you think?

the start button sucks, make orb, and don cut it off!, and the taskbar needs to be thicker and theres no preview of an open window

No, not yet. I had a lot of problems, so left it for a while to work on other projects. I am planning to start work on it again in the next couple of months, so a beta release shouldn't be too long. I'm personally not fond of the round Vista Start button, but that's up to you.

No do not use the vista start button i hate it lol and it wouldnt look right for that size bar. Iwould round the edges tho especially for a top style.

great project, like it a lot, I think that a black bar with light blue / turquiose shades could fit also

Hey, really like the start menu, so many people go wrong there. without seeing your titlebars,toolbars or sub-menus it's hard to say much else. As long as you stick to the same style for the other components, keep it all fitting together, it should be a good theme.
As for the start button, having 2 options, vista, and xp style would be good. I know some people dislike the vista start button.

Thanks for all the comments. I am not going to use black text, as it would not fit the style. I am going to try making the taskbar and top of the start menu darker, so the text is more readable. I have used a number of kol's skins and i am a big fan of his work.
I cannot use a vista start button. It would have to be too small to fit on the thin taskbar.

Nice, just one think, the texts on the taskbar should be black n menu text should b dark grey. This facilitates usability. If u want to have an idea about wat am talking, then take a look at some of kol's skins, they are perfect examples. Keep up the good work n hope to c the final version of this soon.

I dont use transbar, Glass 2k or any other transparency/tweaking programmes apart from Styler. I have not shown the windows as I have not skinned them yet, and I agree about the top of the start menu.

Looks great!!!! ive got vista running now, no offence but, this isnt vista........i like it though. wen its done i will put this on my xp os. had to dual boot so i can have best of both worlds

Looks sweet! It'd be great if you eliminated the extra space above the start menu. There's only a picture in there...

What I'd like to see:
*A Vista inspired Start button
*Some windows samples (mostly showing maximize/minimize buttons and shellstyle) for judging your VS functionality in an adequate way
*No need of additional programs or tweaks

Looks ok. Definitely change the start button to a Vista button. Better to use Glass2k instead of Transbar. With Glass2k you can have the start menu transparent also.

Visual styles can't do glass or transparent.
