Great lines and colouring.
...and as someone mentioned already, I love how he is out of the frame.
Nice work.

This is good- I like how he's coming out of the picture, making him all the more scary. Good, neat lineart and colouring, and you have finished this picture well.

wow what an interesting take on the character! The muscular shading is awesome, very much like a high-brow graphic novel as opposed to a comic book. And the colour tones have a nice feel of nostalgia, as if it was a throwback to the good ol' days of Marvel. An interesting interpretation of the character, who was always too purple for my tastes anyway. Well done

i agree, how bad ass could someone really be in purple?

yeah i think a lot of the Marvel heroes/villians could do with a shake-up in the costume department - i don't really like the idea of a lot of camp crusaders hovering around my city...

A great drawing and very detailed, although isnt Venom a darker shade of purple than that?

davewkim In reply to DigitalArtNetwork [2006-01-10 13:54:56 +0000 UTC]
yeah, but the purple i have would've made him look cheesy and i felt doing all black was cheap.

You've got a great eye for layout: this one just proves that a hundred times over. That's what stands out most to me. The placement of Venom in front of the background image, his knee just breaking the one corner but not the other: really great work. The design of the background with the simple shapes and forms is a great contrast to the beautiful detail you have in his muscle structure. He's seriously creeping me out, but this is really nice work.

i liek how you did the tounge, the bg is basic and thus brings out the details of venom more

Wicked job! I am a fan of Venom, so that works. I would have to say that overall this piece is great, only thing that distracts me (and not by much) is the different style of the background.

i just needed to stick in a bg of some sort. i'm glad you like it.

Now, thatβs villainous for you. Creepy, too. Iβm not quite sure, butβ¦ is it from Spiderman? Butβ¦ It definitely looks like you donβt want to mess with this guy, heβs got attitude and heβs got the power, if youβll just take a look at his appearance. The muscle work is pretty impressive and well drawnβ¦ and I must say I love the squared minimalistic background. It really helps him to stand out and draws attention to his size and apparent strength and power. It is all very good, indeed.

I like how he is bursting out of the squared off constraints.
Its a common move but it works so nicely since its a city behind him and he is Venom..
Like how you did the muscle structure, thats what really makes it stand out to me.

That is one bad ass venom, sadly enough, the guy that was cast as venom in spiderman 3 is eric foreman from that 70's show, and venom is suposed to look exactly how you drew him, monster ripped. Great good on the drawing and inking him!

davewkim In reply to blackdragn [2006-01-06 23:55:55 +0000 UTC]
yeah... hopefully the cg will make him look more vicious, even if i can't help but think of the 70's show.
