Description
~Full View Please~Photographed May 2008 at Arrowhead Lakes in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains.
The lake had been drained so repairs could be done on the retention system. Arrowhead is one of many man-made lakes in the Poconos which accounts for all the tree stumps seen here.
Dedicated to Jeff aka =HippieVan57 in celebration of his birthday May 29th
Hope you have a fantastic day!
Sorry if the photo isn't such a happy image Jeff... I'm not much of a landscape photographer and I have a limited number of pics to choose from. You can use this image for your manips if you like Jeff!

Thanks Dave!
The skies are definitely awesome but the lake is much nicer when it is filled. Check out the story I was relating to *horai below.

Excellent photo with a touch of strange. The drained lake bed explains a lot but I really like the reflection.

Thank you very much Bernie! Strange indeed!
It was empty like this for close to a year. Kind of defeats the purpose of owning a lakefront home.
I took this shot after crossing over the lake bed from the far side. Ninety percent of the bed was dry and solid with a few puddles. That is of course 'til I got to my side of the lake with the huge puddle you see here. Rather than go back I decided to wind my way around avoiding the wet spots 'til I was able to exit a little further up the shoreline. Everything was fine until I stepped on a spot which appeared to be dry and solid. Appeared...
it was like quicksand haha I sunk in up to six inches above my knees. Not a soul around and me 90 to 100 feet from shore, out of view from the house and my family who weren't expecting me back for another hour. At first all I was worried about was keeping my camera away from the mud and water. After a while of struggling, trying to pull my legs up out of the slime I just started laughing hysterically. All sorts of weird thoughts were going through my mind but how I was going to explain my uncharacteristic stupidity to everyone at the house was foremost.
After about 15 minutes of slowly lifting my right leg I managed to get it free ,minus my sneaker,
and positioned my foot on an actual solid spot allowing me to push down and draw out my other leg. Given the surroundings and the lack of people the whole experience was kind or surreal.
Next time I go out on that lake it will definitely be in a boat!

Holy crap man, you must have freaked.
It's stopping the panic setting in at times like that and also keeping from getting angry as well. Glad it worked out.

I did start to freak then the humor of the situation got the better of me.
No reason to get angry, I should have known better than to go out on the lake bed in the first place.
