Description
This particular Star Wars painting is based on a reference that I always considered an iconic image. The reference for this was the first image of anything Star Wars related that I ever encountered in the 80‘s, so the nostalgic value is very high. As a child I was obsessed with robots and the contrast between black and white, so that’s probably how it appealed to me. I committed the ultimate crime of never having watched a SW film throughout the 80‘s, I only ever saw small scenes from the films from time to time, so outrage of outrages I never knew anything about the characters until much later. Prior to watching any of the films, I always assumed Vader and Stormtroopers where robots. The revelation that Vader was just an over-boiled egg, and that stormtroopers where just highly incompetent foot-soldiers did take a while to get over. Some things just aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. Nonetheless it looks like they’re about to lay the law down on someone here with empire style zero tolerance.

On a slightly more serious note:

Painted entirely with Mypaint v1.1 without pressure sensitivity enabled, due to my current OS of choice not supporting the drivers for it. The lack of driver makes my tablet behave erratically and made painting edges a bit awkward. This upload is half the size of the actual painting. Logos where created with GIMP 2.8 with the rendering of Star Wars icon fonts. The personalized dA logo with the Star Wars font was made from scratch.
