Tiny lightning bolts sent chills down his spine as her hand cupped his face and his breath caught in his throat and butterflies danced in his gut, his hand instinctively rose to caress hers. She examined him closely, twin pools of chocolate regarded him with genuine sincerity as a smile formed at the corners of her mouth. As royal heir to the kingdom she'd had her share of suitors. Princes from far and wide would travel far and wide to offer their proposal to her, declaring their love in the form of jewels, gold, and gems, yet here- here she had this man- an enigma to say the least, proclaiming that not even the horrors and demons that resided in Hell would be match for his desire to reclaim her. The thought alone set her heart aflutter.
Seconds passed like eons, as he wondered if he'd said the wrong thing, and came on too strongly. Nervousness set itself in his chest, it was strange, he could hunt down ogres, battle the great serpents that plagued the desert, and face dragons alone, yet in the face of this woman, his courage waned. He opened his mouth to apologize for his error, he shouldn't have overstepped his place, who was he to make such a claim to the princess?
The words never escaped his mouth, for in that instant her lips slid closer to interlock with his, washing away the doubt that once resided and replaced it with a primal need to have her. He was certain of this now, more so than he'd ever been before. The fact was as undeniable as the sky was blue; He was hers.
