Description
30-day OC ChallengeDay 22: running
I Am Not Kidding: a couple of weeks ago, my wife Janet and I went to Lake Eola, the city park in downtown Orlando, to feed squirrels. While there, I took a couple of pictures of the lake and sidewalks with the express intention of using one of those photos as the background for a drawing of Tetsuko running.
So when Day 22 came up, I thought, perfect!
I am surprised (and very gratified) that this turned out as well as it did, considering I didn't spend as much time on this as I do on other pieces of similar complexity.

If you don't mind me asking, does your wife like your characters? Is she buff too?

No, she's not buff; she likes my characters somewhat, but doesn't really pay a whole lot of attention to them. (She doesn't dislike what I do, so I'm pretty fortunate in that regard.)

Ah ok. I was thinking, if you did a drawing of "lil' Brudder" like in the link in your other piece I would love to favorite it. He's a champ, so inspirational. I can honestly say that as someone who has depression.

Lake Eola eh? They should really use the amphitheatre there more often

Omg, the thumbnail (via my smartphone) I thought it was an actual photo! This is fantastic, Mr. Matthews! ^_^

Well, most of it is an actual photo I drew her on top of a pic I took at the park.
Thanks!

Once in a while, you don't just hit a HR, you hit a Grand Slam. Magnificent!

Wonder if she pulls that "On your left" gag from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This looks amazing. The shading perfectly captures the shade of the tree. Outstanding job on this one.

Excellent use of lighting - I can't begin to tell you how many times I've run across images like there, with a character largely in shadow, where they either overdo or underdo how dark the character should be.

I'd have settled for the typical sketch easily. Β I feel like using this one for the Challenge is like using a Lambourghini to pick up groceries. Β
Nicely done. Β I have to agree with CGMan on the shading: Β you pay attention to the details when you combine Tetsuko with photos of the 'real' world. Β

I don't think I've been to that part of Orlando yet, since my stays have been close to Sea World or WDW.

She fits perfectly into the background. Nice job.
PS : Maybe a very light shadow where her heel is about to touch the ground.
