Description
Okay, one more from the "DavePad"... this was executed in Sketchbook Pro for iPad a few days ago, but stayed stuck there because I didn't know how to export the dang thing to file sharing in iTunes. Fortunately a staffer at Autodesk helped me out, and now I expect I'll be doing a lot more in SBP.Keep in mind, too, that I'm only spending an hour or two on these sketches so far... I haven't taken the time to really do a polished piece yet.

You really should include this one in the Sonya section. To be honest, I greatly prefer her to Tetsuko. Your anatomy is excellent, but after looking through most of your work, I think your faces aren't nearly as developed.

The shading on Sonya is amazing! To believe you did it on the iPad is unbelievable, and you're using Autodesk to do it. Superb render.

Damn, Dave! Your visions of your characters are AMAZING! You still surprise me with what you can whip up, even on your Ipad, which you're still getting used to. How've you been, by the way?

You've gotten much better on the DavePad. How happy are you with it though?

Pretty happy overall. There were a couple of problems I was having at first: couldn't send e-mail, but then I found out that Road Runner (my ISP) doesn't support sending e-mail from outside their network (I have the AT&T 3G network on the DavePad), so I opened a Gmail account which works just fine. Plus, I couldn't figure out how to export the drawings from Sketchbook Pro to the main computer; turns out I just didn't know where the export command was.
I'm using the 'Pad as a replacement for an aging iBook G4, mostly for sketching and typing notes for stories. And I can get Internet service on it more inexpensively than I could on the iBook.

Very cool. From a toy to a tool. Good to know.

You getting better at drawing on the iPad. Wait, isn't this technically finger painting? Does this mean you're regressing into your second childhood? Haha, sorry, just kiddin'.

Oh hell, I've been in my second childhood for about thirty years now. It started about 5 years after my first childhood ended, when I found out how little fun "adults" have: can't watch cartoons, can't be interested in toys anymore, gotta wear suits & ties all the time... to paraphrase Bill Cosby: "I've seen an adult's job, and I don't want it!"

Who says? I've never stopped watching cartoons (well, unless they start putting our absolute drivel [Cartoon Network anyone]) and I still buy toys (well, the electronic type ). And I only wear a suit for Christmas and Easter Masses at church.

I'll bet he's using a stylus for at least part of it, no way you could get the fine details so fine with just your fingernail

You'd be surprised what you can do with your finger and the right tool. But you're probably right.

When he saw the image in question, the AutoDesk staffer suddenly gained a new appreciation for the term "structural design."
