It's a lovely scene, but to me there is a greenish tint even to the sky?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DavidCraigEllis In reply to Annaphotix [2010-01-16 18:32:06 +0000 UTC]

Two parts to this answer

I have got some concerns about monitor calibration at present - looks fine (to my eye) on my laptop but i have looked at my DA account on other laptops and desktops and seen a variety of different colour results (some good, some very bad) and some monitor that make the images look horribly over saturated. - not sure of a way forward yet on this issue - maybe a Mac

Some people are sticklers for 100% natural colours/saturation etc whereas I tend to push these a bit (which many call overprocessing) if i feel i can achieve more punch or impact - the trick is not to overdo it . This is an old shot taken only a few months into my digital photography and maybe a bit overdone as many peoples early work often is. I did reduce the saturation yesterday but was very concious that the original idea with this was to make the greens bright and punchy.

Oh I see - and I totally understand about the problem with screens and monitors too. I've had awful times in the past when I had to use my old laptop if my main pc went down for instance. Now I'm using a "new" laptop (9 months old now), but I have a separate 22" lcd flat screen attached, which gives me far better results. I also have Firefox calibrated to sRGB, which is what I work in on my computer. (I'm not sure if that's the right one to have it set to and must do some more investigations into that as there are lots of options I could use in FF.)

Anyway, no worries. I haven't a clue about Macs and whether they are all calibrated to a standard of their own or what? What is important is to have a screen that's anti-glare, and has a very good field of tilt (up or down, or sideways) vision, i.e. doesn't change or go off when you're not directly in front of it.

I wish you well in your search
