Growing up I watched X-Men: The Animated Series on Fox Kids, but the books I bought from my local Food World (back when grocery stores still had comic book racks) were the X-Men Classic reprints! And when I fell in, they were reprinting stories from the '80s! It's still my favorite era of X-Men comics. Here's an '80s Rogue against a backdrop of New York-inspired graffiti and punk rock fliers from 1981 (Rogue first appeared in 1981)...This piece was a long time coming. I drew the Nightcrawler face 2 years ago, but never did anything with it until now. The punk rock fliers were real. I grunged them up in photoshop. The wall behind Rogue was a wall I took a picture of from my old apartment complex. And some of the texture was a cracked up bit of pavement where I used to park my car.
Rogue was drawn and colored in Procreate.
