Description So I have just finished watching Treasure Planet. Loved the movie so much. I really loved the bond between Jim Hawkins and John Silver. The type of father and son bond they had was very special. It was heartwarming and just so emotional. So then I had a thought: What if Captain Hook would ever have something like that? I would love to imagine that a newer lost boy have stumbled into Neverland and tried to escape from Peter Pan. However, Captain Hook takes the boy and holds him prisoner on the Jolly Roger. Over time, the two would grow a strong bond and become very close. The boy would even be enough to make the captain redeem himself. There would come down to a point where Hook could finally get his revenge on Peter Pan, or save the life of a boy who he looks to as a son. I could see Captain Hook being torn apart from the two things that could make him happy, but only choose one. Hook would save the boy and the boy would hug Hook in thanking him in tears. Hook would just say that he will still live to fight another day. Damn. I would definitely love to see a story about this! I actually might write a fan story.

Love the pic, and it fits exactly with the story Faerie Rings, which is here:

(No, I didn't write it, I've just read it umpteen times.)

It's probably the most emotionally intense Hook fanfic I've read, purely about the father-son relationship between Hook and the one child who loves him, and does so all his life.

Thank you so much! I really hope to read it as much as I can. I really feel Captain Hook deserves somewhat of a happy ending because the poor guy deserves a break.

You're most welcome! I couldn't agree more. When I found out as a kid that he is killed in the book (my only prior exposure had been the Little Golden Book of the Disney cartoon) I decided I wouldn't be reading it. Never watched any of the film takes on it, either - other than Jason Isaacs's scenes from the 2003 version - because seeing him as a buffoon or guyliner type doesn't appeal, either. I stick to fanfic, where I check whether there's a happy ending for him before I read it! ☠️

Yeah. I always saw Captain Hook as more of a victim of Peter Pan than a villain. Peter DID cut off his hand and sadistically feeds it to the crocodile. Hook can't even button up, put on his belt or tie knots because he only had one hand. It is very understandable to why he wants to kill Peter. I honestly don't mind him as a comical villain, but he is and always will be a sympathetic villain to me. I liked the Disney version because of the hilarious scene with the crocodile and kraken, but mostly because he was seen as very cunning. I liked Hoffman's version too because he showed a lot of the type of characteristics of the Captain Hook I imagines. Having this charismatic personality who would actually love to be friends with kids if they didn't hate him so much. Tim Curry's version is the second most accurate version of Hook, since he is ruthless, fearless and shows no mercy. He abused his crew and tortures his victims. He even killed his own brother all because his brother was captain and refused to treat him like a brother and rather as a regular crew member. He said to Hook, "You may be my flesh and blood but you are still just like the rest of the crew." Even I believed it was unfair to treat him like that so I was with Hook on that. However, the 2003 is still THE most accurate version of Hook so far. He wears the red coat, his hook is on his right hand (Despite being right-handed. Extra credit for Jason.) and he acts like a fearsome pirate who would, without a doubt, be feared by Long John Silver and even leave Blackbeard paranoid. However, he was even sympathetic since he really thought Wendy would join him and have the common sense to see Peter Pan for what he really is but no, she had to be a brat and root for the Captain to be eaten alive by a giant crocodile. I love Once Upon a Time and was actually mainly watching the show for Hook, but he was nowhere near as good as I hope he would be. First off, the black leather jacket and short hair only gave him an excuse to look like a fangirl-attracting bad boy. Second, he was a total dick. He stole a poor man's wife and murdered Prince Charming's father. I couldn't stand him.

Interesting! My first paying attention to the Captain came simply because he was described as looking like Charles II, which was reason enough for me, and reason in itself to want him to win, and not be mocked. Disliking Pan was easy - nasty, egotistical little boys, yuck!

The OUAT version having short hair would have made him unwatchable to me even before the other considerations, lol. And the eyeliner looks like they're just trying to catch the Jack Sparrow fans.

I agree. Though, it proves you're grown up when you side with Captain Hook over Peter Pan. I can't stand Peter Pan because he is a spoiled, egotistical brat! He is selfish, nasty and just plain sadistic. Hook just wants to be free of the curse of being trapped on the island with Peter and the crocodile. And yeah, I hear that people are heavily comparing OUAT's Hook to Jack Sparrow BECAUSE of the guyliner.

ALL OF THIS!

I didn't much like kids when I was one, lol, and handsome 17th century men have been catching my eye since ... well, a loong time ago.

Jack Sparrow I find rather annoying as a character. He was amusing the first time I saw the first film, but after that I found him grating. Of all the characters in the two PotC films I've seen, I prefer Barbossa, who does SARCASM, or the briefly-seen pirate lord Chevalle, or the rather sweet, doomed Governor Swann.

Yeah. I don't mind kids but they can really get annoying most of the time. I also loved Jack in the first film. I even liked him in the second film but after that, he became annoying.

I saw the first and ... third? At World's End, anyway ... wouldn't bother with the others, especially since Elizabeth Swann/Turner isn't in them now. Only reason I would have wanted to see bits of the Fountain of Youth story would be to see The Spaniard, and that would have been a lot of film to sit through for too little, lol.

I mostly just watch the pirates franchise for the pirate and ocean mythos and legends. Like, we have ghost pirates, Flying Dutchman, Mermaids/Sirens, Calypso, Posiedon's Trident and of course the best of them all, the Kraken. I even liked how they thre Blackbeard in the franchise, but I would most love it if they broughy Captain Hook. Have a crossover with Neverland. Even John Silver and his Captain Flint arc would be interesting too.
