Let's say you were looking for a shady way to get a game without having to pay for it, you go to a sketchy website that claims to have a free download to that game, once you download it and try to run it, you got struck by a ransomware attack. All your files on your computer get encrypted and in order to get everything back, you have to pay in bitcoin before time runs out. No one knows who was responsible for the ransomware, but those who did pay the ransom in bitcoin, the hackers received 41,928 BTC (Bitcoin Cryptocurrency) resulting in a total of $27 million! In present day adjusted to inflation, that's now worth $2 billion! To how hacking can make people filthy stinking rich? But please don't do black hat hacking to become rich, that's what white hat hacking is for.
