Day 11 of Yokai Month takes us to the seas with the Bake Kujira. Its name meaning "ghost whale", and surprisingly there are no current depictions of it in anime and other pop culture. They're said to be the vengeful ghosts of whales who were killed by Japanese whalers, this one is based off of a right whales, because they were hunted all over the world to near extinction until laws were passed to save them. Anyway, those who saw a bake Kujira would get cursed, and the whalers and fishermen who saw it ended up bringing the curse home to their villages.
