Wonderful work on this! I love how well you pull off such complicated poses, and your style is more based on realistic features and people so that just blows me right away. I love the angle, the shading and especially the perspective here. Great work!

A very nice pose! And a difficult one to pull off. I like how detailed you made the feet and the serene looks she has on her face. Very nice work!

This is absolutely amazing work! I love the pose, and the attention to detail is impressive. The shading really brings this piece to life as well. Plus, the foreshorting done on the pose is well done. Excellent work, and I love this for sure! <3

Wonderful job with the shading and pose, David! The wrinkles in her skirt and the individual strands of her hair look amazing!

I would think about defocusing the feet a bit using less defined lines to give the whole image a bit more depth. The shading on them seems a little harsh and is acting to draw your eyes away from the main subject. Just a suggestion anyway.

Thanks for the thoughtful constructive comments...The feet were drawn "in focus" because if you look at the photo, the light source from the window is behind her and her feet are in very sharp focus, whereas her face, are cast in softer lines. I appreciate the shading suggestion; I'll take it on board! Thanks again. Analysis like that is always welcomed.

You're absolutely right there. The thing is, classically, the general rules are that to give the illusion of depth, things further away should appear fuzzier. Doesn't actually mean that rules cannot be broken, however. I think for this particular drawing, it is a tough decision to make though considering the classic "rules" as well as keeping true to your source.

Good point; I'm aware of those rules about distant objects, but the lighting was so striking in this piece that I decided to go against the grain and be true to the source. Perhaps it was a mistake; it might be interesting to do another version of the drawing and apply the standard rules of depth and then compare the two...

Beautiful work! The shading is fantastic, as is the whole anatomy and forshadowing (or whatever it's called, *lol* I forget sometimes, the angle I mean). The feet particularly impress me, as I am a crappy feet drawer, and you've done a brilliant job. Lovely lovely lovely!
