Description
With this picture, I show two things. One is my return of hand-inked drawings, of which I start filing the rust off. I'll also be starting with computer inking with Draw Plus for a good amount of my working images, especially when it comes to the main projects. The second is my experimenting with styles, especially a variant which I'll use for a SD (Super Deformed) style. I recently downloaded Ryuutama (Source: www.drivethrurpg.com/product/1… ) which is described as "Hayao Miyazaki's Oregon Trail" to some. I call it "Studio Ghibli RPG" for the same reasons, which becomes apparent with the illustrations in the book. It has the same 'Family Anime' feeling. In this image for my Wednesday Recap, ( foxfiresutdios.net ) I start experimenting with the style for the smaller illos (usually for the gag images)For those who don't know what's going on, this is the first session of my Backup Campaign, an homeruled campaign which I'll go to when none of the kids are around. One of the NPCs is the one with the sniper rifle. His name's Justin Mercrial, the Lord of Graypeak Mountain. He's pretty imfamous with the Cult of the Dragon (See the character on the right) because of the way he gained his nobility: He killed four dragons before the campaign began, each one with that sniper rifle. He holds the current distance record for a Dragon Kill at 1.5 miles. (Justin will just say that he got lucky, although he is skilled with that thing.)
In this campaign, I took the Syrian Refugee crisis and port it into the Forgotten Realms: The succession of destruction in the Moonsea region has caused a lot of people to migrate en mass out of the Moonsea region to parts south. That runs them smack into the Dales and Cormyr, who are feeling the same crunch the Eurpoean countries are experiencing right now. Fortunately, there is a resurgent Kingdom up in the North that reappeared after a thousand-year curse. A kingdom with a well equipped capital and a pair of benevolent monarchs, but no citizens. Because of this, the monarchs looked at the Refugee Crisis and said, "We'll take them. We'll take all of them if we could." (For the Record, there are only about 100,000 total refugees. Still a formidable number and the monarchs won't get them all, even though its a fraction of the real world version.)
The session recap tells you more, espeically the last scene where Justin points that rifle up against a Dragon Cultists to stop him from running.

Way too close for a sniper rifle shot. Shouldn't he pack a pistol for backup?

True, but he's using it just for shock value: Anyone would notice a .50 Cal up in their grill and be inclined to stop anything they're doing.
