Description In the original Planeswalker comic, Jamie McIndy was pretty much Yugi Mutoh with a far better card game and a Yami partner who could've given birth to the Pharoh Atem. That was basicaly the Planeswalker comic in a nutshell, when I was younger, moronic, and riddled with Chris-chan-like insanity.

In this version, for the NaNo project, things are more easier to believe. Well, easier to believe if you liked that original Dungeons and Dragons cartoon.

Before the story: Having lost her parents on 9-11, she was shuttled from foster home to foster home, and is just starting to worry about her future with a very limited childhood that she had--education was pathetic, she didn't have much chances for work skills, and all she could look forward to when she's eighteen is a couple bucks, the clothes on her back, a pat on her head, and a wish that she don't do drugs.

There was one constant that could be her saving grace: Her love for Dungeons and Dragons. Her sole possessions was the Essentials Line, and she made sure that she had enough in her Paypal account to fuel her D&DI subscription. She was an excellent player and even dabbled into DMing, but there was always a wish that she could run away to the D&D world. As harsh and dangerous as it was, it would actually be a step up from reality; in there, she could learn enough skills to be an adventurer, go up the levels, and make a decent life for herself, something she doubted she could do in the real world.

What brought her to Hubworld was an answer to her wish, in a way: During a bus trip to what could be her last foster parents, an avalanche trapped the vehicle. She managed to get out and go look for help. She got into a cave during a rainstorm and one misplaced step later, she was falling down a bottomless pit.

Her introduction in Hubworld: It was Jasmine who found this girl floating down to the ground. Not wishing to leave her to the wilderness, she took her into her tower base and made sure she was all right. Once Jasmine was brought up to speed, she thought that the hole Jasmine fell through was the latest in the dimensional instability that plagued Hubworld, and so she decided to let the others who were studying the rifts know of it. Jasmine took her in as "an apprentice" and with the help of her friends, inadvertedly fultfulled Jasmine's wishes. "Oh, all this time," Jasmine would say, "You were praying and wishing in the darkness, and ye did not know who might be listening to your cries. Good thing I found you first, who knows what else might've found you."

The two seemed to fill in a gaping need in each other. Jamie got a steady parent and mentor in Jasmine, and Jasmine got a 'morality pet' as well as a reminder of her humanity, which Planeswalkers like her tend to forget. They definitely need each other, and if they'd think about it, they'd realize that. Also unspoken is the obvious, they're both 'oddballs' in Hubworld, so it comes to no surprise that they're Mistress and Apprentice.

I like the design of her dress, but I recommend ditching the giant bow in her hair. Very few girls over the age of 5 wear those kinds of bows.

Understood. I'll drop that bow in future sketches. Any suggestions on hairstyles? Tie them back, bun it, just let it hang?

For a tomboy, short hair or a ponytail is probably your best bet.

Well, Jamie is probably a tomboy, so she'll have a ponytail on her at first. She only lets her hair down so that she'll match Jasmine. Do you think she'll put it back up in a ponytail after the 'bonding?'

Just depends on whether or not she wants to keep it out of her face.

Well, Jamie has never had a mother figure until Jasmine, espeically one with her hair and eye color, so by letting her hair hang down, she gets to be her spitting image.

Of course if she expects some action, she can always get a ribbon (instead of the bow in the first pic) and tie up a ponytail so it'll be out of the way.
