Description
On Maatla, Bears are more than just Godless Killing Machines. Some of them are actually devout, kind hearted, and even a bit simple-minded. Like your muscle-headed jocks at school. That fits Duke to a T, a letterman Blitzball player who also provides some muscle to the resistance, as well as the point man in getting to know Eric. And wait til you see Blitzball. You will never look at Quiddish the same way again. Remove the brooms, and add in Rugby and quite a bit of Australian Rules Football, and you have Blitzball. Let's just say that little breakable wizards need not apply.

Aw heck, that IS supposed to be a male character.
Just a Suggestion: Why not make Duke a she-bear? I loved the idea of one of the characters being a huge scary woman who plays extremely dangerous contact sports for fun... it's just not the sort of thing you normally see in comics. It'd be awesome.

Hmmmm. Never thought of it that way. Although I did plan on redoing Duke's clothing here nevertheless so we'll have a better pic to go with this.

Okay this is a terrible thing to say but I have to agree with Gargu. Readin your comments I was confused but now I'm sure Duke is supposed to be a he-bear.
Heavy musculature is difficult to manage at best, but in this case it completely fails to convey the image of a powerful big killing machine. Okay, you managed to get the BIG part okay... but more in the Big Girl You Are Beautiful sense than anything else... o_O particularly when the clothes look so much like a dress...
My advice: EXAGGERATE. Look for anatomical drawings, photos of body builders, locate the muscles and make sure they can be clearly seen in the drawing. You said it yourself, you want to draw a believable killing machine and for that you need muscle as well as size. Don't worry about overexggerating the muscles, the more you draw them the easier they will be to draw and they'll come out moe naturally, more flowing. Eventually you'll settle for a comfortable anatomy for you.
And another thing, careful with expressions like this o_O I can see you tried to apply it in the fullbody picture but it came out looking like the bear has crooked eyes... not a crooked expression... I think it might be fixed by bringing the eyes and eyebrows together, the way you do it in the angry expressions. Don't be afraid of it looking too angry, eyebrows are very malleable and their closeness or distance from the eye can do wonders for an expression.

NOTICE: Just because Maatlan Bears like Duke may be devout, kind hearted, and even a bit simple-minded, it doesn't make them any less of a killing machine. Do not. DO. NOT. Get between Duke and his picnic basket. You might die.

It's "him"? I thought it's boobs and some serious child-bearing hips.
And skirt.
