Description
I have two more Chromatown characters I wanted to hash out before I'm ready to work for the Pitch Bible. Right now I just have the initial idea with a short description and sketch of the character, but nothing's quite right set at this time. So I'm sending this Alpha-stage sketch and characterization for others to hash with me. When I get the feedback, I can progress with the piece above.Pat Shippo is the main foil in the Chromatown story. If there's a nefarious scheme, there's a good chance that Pat, and his cloned henchmen, is behind it.
I need more help with this character than I first thought. I can see the Placeholder as clear as day now: I basically made a slim Pete with a tail. Did I differentiate enough, or does this character need more work. That's why I want to haggle this with you. It'll be greatly appreciated.
EDIT 01: As for suggestion, I turned Pat into a Rat, and have his cohorts be a bunch of animals that would hunt down Mice, like Foxes, Cats, Owls, and others. That should be enough to keep him from looking too much like Pete.
EDIT 02: I played around with my Paint Shop Pro to move all the fat on Pat up to his torso. It might look a bit blocky in some lines, but since I'm going to shrink this picture down to use for the Cast page in the web site, I'm not worried that much. I can always do better in the pages, can I?

Updated: From the waist up, this looks pretty solid. The cigar is a nice addition. His expression is sour, with a slightly condescending look worthy of a boss. His lackey looks a little cutesy for an underling, but the choice of clothes is fitting on both parts. It would appear he's about to ask his crony "What are you smilin' about?".
From the jacket and down is where I have to raise a slight issue. The legs seem disproportionate to the rest of him, he has something akin to a Kangaroo build with upper legs like those. If that's intended as a slight anthropomorphic build, it's a bit out of place in comparison to the other toons.
And I'll ask the same question I asked for the Clarice piece: What sort of cartoons woulid he be featured in? As the bad guy, what sort of bad guy things does he do? Do the police try and stop him? Like the Clarice picture, I only ask because you might need to draw some of the cartoons into the strip.

Heh, I didn't have much of an idea on the pose the fox had, although I like the way he appears.
I wanted Pat to be a bit more fat for Pat, or at least have him have a body build more appropriate for a rat. Maybe I should just make him more fat, Obese to some. The roundness needs to be up on the torso, perhaps?
As I mentioned with Clarice, the first thing you see is a Chromatown cartoon of Pat and company trying to get at ChromaJohnny's Cheese Hoard. I'm open for suggestions for any additional comics.

This usually helps me when I need a little figure design assistance: [link]
I had a feeling that was the idea. The more I looked at the piece, it seemed more apparent that he would pass for one of those heavyset business types if he had more of a stomach to give that rounded appearance. The above tutorial might help differentiate some of your other designs as well.

He looks a bit like Felix the Cat. Maybe make him a Felix-y trickster type?

Nevermind, Porygon's idea is better.

Artistically, Big Pat's got a small jacket. Having spent a fair share of time in suits, the jacket is designed to come down over one's pockets. He definitely does look like Pete; perhaps you might benefit from changing what kind of animal he is? If you want a challenge, I'd make him a rat (as opposed to your golden boy Johnny being a mouse). It provides similarity, but a contrasting difference between good and bad. Other predatory and/or sneaky mammals (Foxes, raccoons, ferrets, etc) could work also. Your call.
As a crime boss in the 20s, we're talking gangsters; Suits and fedoras for the hitmen, white undershirts, suspenders and slacks for the blue collar, rough-talking mooks. Use the times for wacky hijinks, chases and prohibiton-era brawling. Drop the piano on somebody.

Lower the jacket down to the pants pockets, turn him into a rat, and have all of his henchmen be pred/sneaky mammals in gangster suits. That's exactly what I was looking for.
