Description This will be the first strip which I submitted under the new section listing that seperated Comics from Cartoons.

There's also a start of another contraversey which started in my main site's forum: In the next 2-3 strips, Pippkin will show up, and when that happens, he'll be needing a host. Who's it going to be? Toni or Penn ?

Dude, we need to get you to hang out with some real life gay people.

Consider it "Research."

One thing that kind of confuses me is that everyone in this strip who isn't gay seems confused when they encounter gay people.

Perhaps. As you may have noted in some areas, while homosexuality is becomming more accepted/tolerated into the modern day world (at least in the comic, your mileage can indeed vary) there still are some times where a straight person is still sensitive twoard a gay person. They didn't want to offend, at least not people like Penn, they just think that they don't know whatever or not they're stepping on any toes. Such as it is with any differing cultures and lifestyles where one of the two parties involved--or even both--are progressing into social waters that they are unfamiliar with. At least, that's what I was thinking at the time I wrote this. I could be off.

From what I see, gays are not accepted or tolerated in your comics. You treat homosexuality as a trait one can just switch in and out of like a tshirt. Not the case at all. Once a REAL person realises they're gay(not bisexual, GAY), they *don't change their minds*.

All your other characters constantly address the gay characters as if being gay is their ONLY personality trait. Directly alluding to a the sexual persuasion of a person whom you are NOT close friends with is either sexual harassment or grossly insulting, no matter what side of the fence you're on.

Contrary to what you think, the vast majority of people in first-world nations do NOT feel all uncomfortable and confused when interracting with a gay person. And even if they were, there's no way a normal gay would 'back off' for fear of offending. At most, they'd ignore the other person's discomfort and show them soon enough that gay people act no differently to anyone else.

So yeah, you're off. WAY WAY WAY off. Sorry.

Yeah, I thought as much. In fact, I kinda expected to be off (albeit unintentional: As way way way off as this is, I've gone a long way from the gay-bashing scene in SMAK.) when I made the decision to make Jim Goodlow gay. Like with some people here in the comic, I'm practically tripping over myself, as I'm dealing with characters who aren't so well developed--a fault that is curable--and afflicted with a tendency to be a loner and socialize through the computer--a fault that might not be.

If this comic were about gay people, instead of anti-corporation furries, I would have studied that particular subject further rather than just wing it as I had.

That being the case, then, you really shouldn't have bothered with making the characters gay. You can't just 'wing it' with things like race or sexuality or gender. You will attract only ridicule if you can't be bothered to research properly.

Okay, so the story's about anti-corporation. So how about getting BACK to that plot instead of wasting an entire page on another character saying 'oh, you're gay'? Forget the whole gay identity-crisis thing you seem to be trying to create with Toni and Jim and get on with the story of Scarlet versus the evil corporation who made her.

Good idea. It was something I had in my mind while we were discussing this.

So anyway, about Pippkin showing up. Who do you want to be his host? It's a tossup between Toni and Penn. (With Toni, I take out the entire gay theme altogether.)

Don't ask me, dude, it's your story.

Write what YOU think should happen. People want to hear YOU tell the story. If you want around for people to tell you what to write, then there's no incentive for them to read it cuz they already know what's going to happen.
