Description
...gone too far!One of the various studies that I've been doing lately. I wanted to see how well I can copy a photograph...lol and to make it a bit more challenging I chose a smiling face, cause it has all those little details of flexed muscles, wrinkles and what not.
Can you tell who she is?

Hi!
I have a couple of questions I'd like to ask related to this picture, if that is okay.
Basically, I've been trying to figure out what pictures you can and cannot use when making studies like this, especially if you'd like to show them here on DA.
As far as I have gathered it is only okay to use pictures that are public domain or if you have expressed permission to use them.
But is it perhaps generally accepted that artists non-profit studies or practice drawings are exempt from this? Or could they perhaps be called "marketing" by demonstrating the artists skill?
Thank you regardless
/C

Doesn't look like a photo
but it's great and it is clearly the girl from V - can't remember her name righ now.
The colours make her look a bit pale and older than she is

Glad to hear that it doesn't look photorealistic, cause although I had a photo as a reference, I wanted it to have a painterly look. Thank you for the feedback.

The likeness is perfectly achieved, however I feel that the smile is not very genuine, the eyes don't smile, and the mouth is too contracted.

Yeah I agree, her smiles feels kinda awkward and forced in the painting, while in the reference photo looks genuine and natural. That was the hardest part to "copy"... Thank you for your honest feedback, I appreciate it.
