To me, this is interesting on several levels. One, it's just plain amusing. Two- your color. Dang, man! IT's wonderful. And third, it's amusing that you took a character that's being praised for breaking out of a media tradition and placing her back into a more "familar" roll. I"m not saying it's a BAD thing, nor am I saying one ins better then the other. What I'm attempting to get at is that I think showing a character's flexibility is great. It's not about social roles, it's about personalitiy and expression. Also, I can completely picture her with this expression as I have a feeling the sentiments will be shared in the movie considering the wonderful mess she gets herself into. But most importantly, this is just plain ol' fun!

... I realize that was a really awkward sentence.
I'm saying that Tiana's been in a roll that in the past she probably would have been in, but you can tell it's for the enjoyment of the concept behind the picture, not for the job itself. It's kinda like saying: Look, she's awesome regardless of being a princess. If only because of the artist's love of the character, but just because the picture itself is fun.

Tiana's being hailed as the first african american princess. There is rejoycing in this because normally people of that ethinicity are excluded from such rolls. In their early incorporation of the media, they were only seen (at the best of times) in roles of house workers and related fields. So X amount of years ago, it wouldn't have been unlikely for an only appearance to be as something like a waitress. Though, giving the context of the times, that was also seen as pretty nifty, at least it was something. So I was reflecting at how it kind of comments back on old times, but can also be seen as a sign that darn it, there was valor in those roles too as everything has to start somewhere, and sometimes it's more about the character itself then the position they're in.
Sorry if I'm being too repetitive. I'm just afraid someone will think I was saying: oh look she's where she belongs now. Which is completely NOT what I was thinking.

Oh Tiana was originally a waiter, or a chaimber maid of sorts but they changed it because it would be racist cause she was Black .

Tiana was a popular Halloween costume this year! I work at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World and Tiana and Naveen debuted here a couple days ago. <3 I haven't gotten a chance to see the Riverboat Jubilee, but I did catch a glimpse of the two of them on my way through Liberty Square. Naveen was doing this adorable dance and Tiana was just staring like she couldn't decide what to think. (but she was smiling, of course. <3)
