I just did a lil background. this looks an awful LOT like an IsraeliΒ M1Β Super Sherman the biggest difference is is this chassis is more squared off but that turret and gun are an awful close match.

Looks like an ex-IDF Super Sherman with desert tan paint, barrel rest, and 90mm cannon in the turret.

It's not desert tan, just super-faded out olive drab. The weapon on it is just a 76mm, not a 90mm.

Paint that tank right now!! Β
I finished the comment and then realized it was a 76mm gun. Β Β I must have been channeling Oddball again...

Well, if you can buy the paint...
The museum is a small, free base museum for Ft. Meade, MD so money is tight. Their biggest coup was being able to build an extra wing to house two extremely special tanks- a WWI Renault FT, which they believe to be the only combat veteran Renault in the US (the other museum Renault FT's were built over here and used for training), and one of three complete Mark VIII Liberty/International Anglo-American heavy tanks in existence. That was twenty years ago.

According to the placard, this has a 76mm gun.

Prolly is. it seems a bit small for the 90's the Isrealies used an the muzzle brake is a sure giveaway it ain't a .75.

The Isreal actually mounted an 105mm gun.

your right. my mistake it was the Brits who put the 90 is and they had to turn it sideways to fit it.

Your half right. The British put their "17 pounder" havy AT gun into the turret, and they had to turn it side ways in order for it to fit, but it was 76.2 mm no 90. The only Variant that comes to mind that had a 90 mm (well actually two) was the an M4 Easy eight fitted with an M26 Pershing turret/M36 Tank Destroyer Turret.
