Description this was at the end of a roll of a lot of postcardy christmas shots i did in jiefangbei a little while back. its the mamiya 645e at f22. i gave it about 60 seconds. a little less than that, i was counting 1 1000, 2 1000, 3 1000, you know, thats always a little faster over time. it was dark. many folks walked in front of the camera as well. you really never know what you'll get unless you try. velvia iso100 120 slidefilm.

thanks! This place was right in the heart of central Chongqing City China by Liberation Monument Square. After WWII the whole city had been burned to the ground and when they rebuilt it, it was done in a fairly unregulated fashion. The government has been progressively demolishing these old buildings to make way for high rise residential buildings. There's a big demand for residential space. There are about 17 million people in the city proper and 32 million in Chongqing Province altogether.

when atlanta got the 1996 olympics, the whole old inner city was leveled. that sucked. theres a lot of intersting old places in china getting demolished. i spent five years shooting panoramas in old chongqing. someday i'll post them somewhere...

Are you using tripod when you are taking photos...like panoramas? My Sony have nice feature..sweep panorama...

Your pictures are so sharp...

i'm using an ultralight graphite tripod and a manfrotto pano head. those particular shots would render out at about 36 megapixels full resolution so they have a lot of detail. I render them really small for the web. My "tunnel of dreams" [link] shot is around 87 megapixels when rendered at full res. the detail is insane.

you know when you have film processed you have negatives right? slide film gives you positives. you can project it up on the wall. its not reversal film. thanks!

The colors are just stunning...definitely makes one want to reconsider film. Great composition too, I love how the perspective leads the eye from the sides in to the back. Well done!

thanks! i cant live without film... its so essential. here its also really cheap. if you ever come, buy all your film here and do all your processing in the big cities. you can shoot to you hearts content. i shoot and have my negatives scanned. then i only spend bigmoney on large prints.

wow you hit this dead on, i know how hard it is to shoot in slid film, so to see something this good come from slide film...wow you really got this exposure just right, great job

thanks, its really kind of lucky... i was out there metering and the signs flash on and of everywhere so its easy to be wildly off the mark...also my counting method is funky. out of 45 shots i got about 9 i was happy with.
