Description
John Hurt's final scene in Alien is one of the most memorable things I've ever seen in film. Here it is recreated with peanuts. This is for two artists I've met on dA.
for unintentionally convincing me to do more of these.
because I know he's a fan of Alien and I promised I'd embarrass him somehow. Be sure to ask him where he keeps his "two hairs". I can't seem to find where he hides them.
made with: Gimp 2.6 photo manipulation and paint tools.
main image: set model (including floors, walls, table, peanuts)
Tribute to the film "Alien"

A perfect mix of funny and somewhat disturbing! The sense of depth caused by the slight blurring works really well too. Great work, David!

Funny you mention the blurring. I found myself having to selectively blur to match my blurry photo. The focus is where I wanted it though.
By the way, there are no peanuts that look like Tom Skerrit or Sigourney Weaver. They all looked like Ian Holmes. No offense to Mr. Holmes. He's cute as a peanut.

He's a great actor but not much bigger than a peanut either!

Thank you, you have some great photography. I feel ashamed to be farting around with a 20 dollar, Black Friday, Kodak Special. I hate it on a daily basis. Seriously though, you have a skilled eye. Great work.

Thanks! Really though, the camera shouldn't matter, whether you are using a 10,000 dollar camera or a point and shoot etc etc depending on what you are shooting, one will never know the difference. You make use of what you have, and you have done a fantastic job! Bravo!

Yeah, I agree for the most part, except where quality comes into play. My biggest problem is with getting good shots of my 2D paintings and such. My camera has this fish-eye thing going for it which doesn't work well for me. Also, I don't know crap about cameras. I could probably adjust a couple of settings and have clean, crisp photos. If only I could....focus.

lol, if you can afford one, you should pick up a used Canon g10, it's a point and shoot, but it has a zoom lens and can do everything a dslr can, except allow you to change lenses. It's an awesome compact camera and would do everything you need

Thanks for the tip. I enjoy it when I meet someone that's not just an "epic" dispenser. Consider yourself considered.

Always a real pleasure!

Although I totally prefer "Aliens" over the first, I have to say that I absolutely love what you've done with this. Very clever.
