Description This was my first take of deviantART: a bunch of artists in boxes looking at other artists in boxes. I've since found that it's a lot more.

pencils and markers....and a heavy helping of dodge and burns digitally.

Very cool and striking. Reminds me of Robert Crumb somehow, although not really that much like his style at first glance. Must just be the general feeling or something. In any case, very good.

I see the resemblance. Thanks.

The lighting effects are great. I really get the feeling he's looking out through that little hole.

I meant to have it look like each of the little drawings showed progress in skill but I think I got lazy, didn't quite pull it off. I should probably fix that because I think it would give it much more depth.
And I think the "Crumb's" you see are around the eyes. I seem to remember some of his characters having melted sockets.

He also drew guys kind of trapped in boxes occasionally, at least I think I remember that.

I was never too much into Crumb's work, a bit before my time I guess, but I guess the fact that I knew who you were talking about is something because I rarely get to know the names of other artists. My standout memories of him are of tall, gorgeous women and him inexplicably having them on his lanky arm.

I always thought Crumb's stuff was pretty good but much preferred Robt. Williams, Spain, Roger Brand, etc. His stuff has kind of grown on me though and some of his more realistic drawings of blues players and such are undeniably beautiful. He sure does get the sexy women for being such a goofy looking, scrawny guy. I think it's a combination of chicks liking us "artistic types" and the fact that the exaggerated-looking huge penis he draws on himself is apparently NOT exaggerated! I think I recall a couple of the women in that movie saying that!
