I never thought this silence would be so calming.
Well, at least not now.
All of Waterfall has been evacuated after what happened in Snowdin.

It’s really saddening to think, we are so weak.
The best we can do against a mere human child is…
Run away.

When I discovered what happened to Sans, I was furious.
But now, I realize there’s no point.
Really, I should be the one to blame.
I wish I was a better brother.
I wish I would have listened to him more.
I wish I would have been there, to protect him.
Was that, too much to ask for?

Suddenly, a small piece of ash falls down from the cigarette in my hand.
Into the dark void below me.
I look at my hand.
The cigarette, lit and alive.
Yet destined to burn out one day.

A scary thought glosses over my mind.
My hand trembles, and the cigarette falls into the abyss below as well.
I stare at it, as it heads down.
The light it emits.
Growing more and more dim as the endless pit swallows it all.
Will it ever reach the bottom?
Or will it just, vanish?
The light finally fades and I’m left in the dark.
With only my thought to keep me company.

I consider lighting another cig.
But, I think the smoke break is about over.
I get up, my legs no longer dangling over the ravine.
It's time to go help Undyne figure out the final evacuation route.
And then, well…
No need to think about it now.

I left my cigarette pack on the floor when I left.
I don’t think I’ll need it anymore…
