Description
This was my attempt at a John Romita Jr Spider-Man. I was a BIG fan of his run on the comic and and the slightly exaggerated, cartoonish way he drew the character, but I just could never really figure out how to translate his style correctly into a sculpt.I still really like the headsculpt though, so I might salvage that and put it on a more traditional, standing pose at some point.

I've always been annoyed at marvel for putting out such plane or boring sculptures of spider-man. This one is about the best I've ever seen! I truly mean that. I know you don't seem thrilled with it, but you not only captured spider-man...you captured J.R.J.R.'s Spidey. Please see this one through so you can post lots of pictures of it through the process and of the final product. When it's done. Some one at Marvel needs to see it so they can get a wake up call to raise the bar a little. Some of the best sculptures of comic book characters are usually based on a well known artist's version of the character. As a fan, I don't often want to see some joe-schmo's crappy version of a super-hero. I want to se Romita, Lee, Ditco's versions. You did a wonderfull job getting the Romita feel.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I do think the basis is there for a good statue, and I still like the idea of a swinging pose. So who knows. I might revisit it at some point and see if I can make it work.
