I see your work....good stuff.Alan Dean Foster, never seems to be interested in taking his series into the next logical level, graphic novels. But, you certainly are doing an awesome, awesome art worK and soon animation : )

Thanks! Yeah, he has always seemed resistant to adapting his work to any video format. Interesting because heβs done so many novelizations of movies. Including ghost writing the Star Wars novel!

That is really a strange attitude or something. What a shame. But, on the other hand, there's this wonderful opportunity called the World Wide Web aka the Internet that allows people, especially of the ambition and artistically and creatively hungry, like you and many others to show their stuff, share ,inspire and socialize. : )

I've been away for over a year all because of that conversion from Hotmail to Outlook...what a headache, I'm not a technical expert.Β Β
Anyway, what a delightful sight I behold.Β YES!!!!Β Davvio, you got it!!!Β :Β )
George Lucas sold Star Wars....BIG MISTAKE.....I always thought that the Pip and Flinx series, if done with the same attention to craftsmanship as 1977's Star Wars, 1980's The Empire Strikes Back and despite the 'wrapping it all up' kind of sense with George Lucas' 1983's Return Of The Jedi, that this series could stand on it's own, it has a different set of circumstances and Flinx and Luke are entirely different from each other.

I remember you saying it hadn't been rigged for animation yet, so further more knowing this isn't the final look. It's a little hard for me to say my thoughts. I am very curious about that finalized look. Also the rigging sounds like it would be a pain in the but. What you have in front of you is not only rigging a snake body but figuring out the bones in the wings working to that smoothly. I suggest when you do tests, have Pip slither around on the ground and then spring into the air. Either that or say coiled on Flinx's shoulder and then uncoiling ready to fly.

Thanks! Yeah, rigging tests are ongoing - as I have time to do them! I figure I'm really going to have to have two rigs: one that flies and one that slithers. The head leads a slithering snake, and the spine/wing base will need to carry her through the air. I did get a passable wing structure. I really want the texture to sparkle and be iridescent as ADF describes her in the books. Turns out that's fairly difficult in Maya
I'll get there & post. It's going to take weeks with my current work schedule, but I'll sneak in work as I can haha
Thanks for your comments!Β
