Description
Eh, this isn't much but I thought I'd try submitting it to hear what you all have to say. This was taken at a very old home called Stan Hywet Hall in Ohio. I didn't go into the home (mainly because it was more money) so I just kept to the gardens. This was taken in the garden the woman of the house went to often (these people lived here probably nearly 100 years ago). The garden is enclosed by a wall and these windows were built into the wall to view the garden from the outside. The bars were kind of creepy looking with cobwebs and spiders in them and just very depressing. Then the inside of the garden was filled with such life, looking into it through the bars on the window kind of made me feel like I wasn't allowed in to such a beautiful place. Which is why it's called Exile.
Just changed to black and white in psp and a few minor contrast adjustments (frame too) I really suck at making frames, so sorry they're not very creative. I need to learn how to do that some day.

Great pic. WOnder what it looks like in color? the B&W promotes the title "Exile" better than bright colors would tho. the slight rays of sun are cool, and the light on the stonework in B&W looks great.

I agree with some of the other comments; you may want to try some sepia. I still think this is a very wonderful picture, though.

Beautifull light and contrast, in my opinion maybe you could framed the all window, but i like the angle you shoot and itΒ΄s a good work no matter

A beuatiful piece! The stone wall looks nice and gives you plenty to look at. Nice scenery. Have you tried some sepia/orange colouring. The warm colours might strengthen the effect of the sun.
Well done!

photography doesn't always have to have color to make it interesting. in fact this picture is more boring in color than without. the black and white gives it a darker tone and mood to convey the sense of being an outsider looking in at a world of beauty that they can't enter. thanks for your comment ^_^

Thanks! It's amazing the difference black and white can make. The original is in color (I definitely don't like it as much), but I knew when I was taking this shot that I was going to change it to black and white. Thank you for your comment

Akron. That's an... interesting place. I rather like it there, though. It think it's kind of pretty in it's own way.

this place isn't really in the city of Akron, it's just outside of it. Are you from Ohio or have you just been there?

I live here. I know where Akron is, it's an interesting place. I've only been there once.
