Chinese Zodiac - Year of the RatPeople ask me where is the rat in this piece...well in Chinese Squirrels are called "松鼠". The character "鼠" means a type of rat/mouse. So having squirrels here is both technically accurate and goes a lot better with this beautiful girl then the alternative.

Huh, I never knew that about the squirrels. Well I guess it does make sense, since both Rats/mice & squirrels are rodents.

It's a fantastic piece of work, though I have to say rats would have worked just fine. Just use the domestic ones they keep in labs or for pets; they're cute as all get-out.

Isn't that a bit of a dodge, though? I mean, Guinea Pigs aren't pigs and they're not from West Africa... Still, this is my favorite Year of the Rat art ever.

very nice, I love the movement and the colors but...the rodents look a bit too much like chipmunks instead of rats. Other than that it's beautiful; thanks for sharing.

You should have titled it as 'Year of the Rodent' since both rat and squirrel fall under the same catergory.
I think you should also add more squirrels or other rodent species like mice, hamsters and chipmunks in the picture as the pose sort of gives an impression that she's under rodent attacks, which maybe different from those typical Disney princesses animal friendly theme.
