Shadow The hedgehog's different designs and powers through the years.

In 2001 Sega introduced Sonic Adventure 2 with Shadow the Hedgehog. When playing the dark story, Shadow is one of the characters to play as. Since his first appearance Shadow has been one of the top five favorite sonic characters in the Sega series. He is featured in most sonic games (main player character or unlockable character), the sonic comic series as well (He even has his own story) and Sonic X tv show. Shadow is a friendly rival to Sonic in both speed and antics.

Brief History: Shadow is the ultimate life form created by Professor Gerald Robotnik (Eggman's Grandfather). In a laboratory on the Space Colony ARK. Having the same DNA of Black doom. He was created to cure Gerald's granddaughter Maria's terminal illness. Both Shadow and Maria became close friends. Before the professor could finish the cure, G.U.N. soldiers invaded the ark. They plan to destroy project shadow because they assume that he was a threat. They shot maria while aiming for the ebony hedgehog. She pushed shadow into a tube capsule, seeing his only friend about to die. She promised shadow with her last breath to save the earth and the humans that are on it. These were the last visions shadow ever saw of maria before she sent him to earth. Being the only survivor of the ark he was in suspense animation for 50 years till Eggman activated his pod and woke him.

Sonic Adventure 2: After been awoken by Eggman, he decided to work for him. Getting the power of the seven chaos emeralds to activate the Chaos Cannon. Unfortunately Shadow received amnesia and wanted revenge on humanity for killing his family(Gerald Robotnik and Maria). Throughout the game he's paired with Rouge the bat to collect each chaos emerald. Battling Sonic and his friends to complete his mission. Before earth was destroyed, Amy helped Shadow regain his memories. Realizing the promise he made for Maria, he became a hero and saved the planet with Sonic. In the game play as Shadow or Sonic they wield the Flame Ring.

Shadow The Hedgehog (game): Shadow has received amnesia, recapping the same memory flashing in his head. Running down the metal halls of the Space Colony ARK with a human girl from G.U.N. soldiers and a shot is heard. Him yelling the girls name out "MARIA!". The memory ends in darkness. Your job is to guide Shadow to receive the seven chaos emeralds to help him discover his past and true self. Along the way you can do one of three things, either help one of Sonic's friends , help the black arms concur the human race, or retrieve the chaos emeralds for self needs. The story contains three story lines Hero, Villain, or Neutral. Hero- aids the Sonic Team and keeps the promise he made to Maria, Neutral- Shadow thinks he's an android, and Villain- aids the black arms or betrays them and destroys the earth with the chaos emeralds. This game contains violence, swearing, and gun usage. Only game that makes Shadow the main protagonist.

Archie Comics: Backstory is similar in the games and saved the mobian world numerous of times. Allying with Eggman for a short time till he signed up with G.U.N. His rivalry with Sonic is less tense and will give a lending hand if necessary. Fighting many enemies and defending whats right. Going on multiple missions that G.U.N. sends him and his team on. Seen in most of the Archie comics since his first arrival in Sonic the hedgehog #252.

Sonic Boom: Shadow makes an appearance in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. An indirect enemy to Team Sonic (Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Amy, and Sticks). His hostile behavior and harshness becomes a problem to the Sonic Team. You only seen him in both games, either being controlled by Lyric's mind control device and battles Sonic (Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal) or Time travel battling before going through a portal as Sonic and Tails (Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric). Shadow has also appeared once in the sonic boom TV show. Season 1 episode 52 'It Take a Village to Defeat a Hedgehog'. He might appear in future seasons as well. Also Shadow isn't a playable character in both games.

Other games and Media: After Shadow the Hedgehog (game) and Sonic Adventure 2, he's either a unlockable character, a boss, or a side story mission. Sometimes mentioned in games, a trophy to unlock or an ally used in sonic smash brawl, and side character in the story line. Shadow also has many merchandise in the Sega community. Little action figures, blankets, posters, clothing designs, cosplays, fan art, and etc. He's on the top five most favorited sonic characters, especially his many fans. Also numerous pairing that are paired with the ebony male. Some that make sense and others that don't need to exist(personal opinion). Also seen in many literatures and porn art as well. Shadow is also showen in Sonic X TV series labled Project Shadow.

Team Dark: Shadow is the leader of Team Dark. In Sonic Heros Team Dark contains Shadow the Hedgehog (leader), Rouge the Bat, and Omega 123. They search for Eggman to regain Shadow's memories and Omege seeks revenge for locking him in a metal room. They battle each team except Team Rose for some strange reason. Team Dark works for G.U.N. on missions and other tasks that need to be completed.

Powers/Weapons: Shadow's physical strength is something not to mess with. He can easily overpower in the fighting range. He can handle more damage than most mobians, since he was created with Black Doom's blood and programed to defend himself. Created in a labortory Shadow can't age. Called the Ulamite Life-form for his immortality. His code mane was Project Shadow back in his progress of creation. He's immune to most weapons against him. Also capable to use any fire arm easily. To small hand pistols too large missles. G.U.N. also gives his team a veichle even though his speed over matches it. Its a motercycle with his logo on the body. Besides his combat skillz and fire arms, he also usues chaos energy in battle. Shadow contains chaos energy within him, mostly his inhibitor rings. His basics are Chaos Spear, Choas Blast, and Chaos Control. All using a chaos emerald or removing his inhibitor rings. With the power of all chaos emeralds, he transforms into Super Shadow. All the same abilities as Super Sonic but with more chaos energy in hand. Shadow also has similar moves like Sonic's of spin dash, spin kick, speed, and etc. Shadw isn't one to be messed with. If you're at the other end receiving his wrath.....well it was nice knowing yeah.
