It took me way too long to finish this. I am so unmotivated right now even though I have a lot of ideas. It's just that nothing ends up like I want it to D:Β Β
I am going to stop saying what picture will come next. I really don't know. Thank you for following me, anyway.

I can perfectly see this happening hadn't the old lady asked Sans to promise he would look after the child.
After all, they're the seventh and final SOUL left to free the monsters from their prison. Why shouldn't Sans hurry up and just take the SOUL, rather than risk having a human whose intentions are unknown to him wander around and possibly hurt innocent people?Β Β Β Β

And yeah... I love Sans, but I still firmly believe he would've killed you if not for Toriel. And honestly, with everything he does and does not know about you at that point, it's hard to blame him.

I actually had a lot of fun drawing this which really surprised me. Usually I avoid drawing backgrounds as they are really difficult for me.

I personally think that Sans is literally watching the player killing papyrus without doing anything. And I'm pretty sure it's not the first time it happens so I don't think he would cry over papyrus scarf.
Usually people draw him with so many facial expressions when he only smile in game. I don't think he's that innocent. He is way too chill in the game.
Anyway this is really well done !

I just had to say that xD
All the Genocide fanart I see has him crying and wearing Pap's scarf even though everything turns to dust in the game (not to mention that - as you said - Sans only ever smiles. I change his expressions, too, but I always try to keep at least a small smile. He is a skeleton, after all)
I am trying to write a (hopefully not too horrible) short story about this. I can think of different scenarios but the one I would choose (and probably get the question "what the hell is he doing?" for) is that he either arrives too late or at the very end of the fight and just watches - and is so shocked or in denial that he just leaves, not wanting to deal with the fact that his brother really just died.
He cannot remember resets so I don't think it's because of getting used to it (I doubt anyone could get used to it. Though I can say from experience that sometimes so many awful things happen at the same time it almost gets funny. I will call the ff "Funny")
I am not angry about it but I do get slightly annoyed when people believe that this Sans is Canon.
I tend to believe his remark about Frisk being dead if it weren't for his promise and actually believe that he has killed at least one human before. It's not too hard to hide from Papyrus but I do believe that someone from the Underground would have seen a human walking around... But that might be just my interpretation. I can live with others' as long as they don't want to tell me it's the only correct depiction.
We don't actually know that much about him for sure.

Actually I still believe he got used to everyone's death. When you face him as a lost soul he says "why even try, you'll never see them again". I think he is aware that everyone died at one point. I personally believe that there was a time he tried but gave up since he says it's useless because everything will reset.Β
I also believe getting used to it is difficult but during his fight he doesn't get angry. Or shout or anything. That's super interesting for me. He only faces the player when everyone is killed.Β
Even if you just kill papyrus you can't fight him. And we both know how much he loves his brother.Β

But it's also my interpretation, a lot of people like to portray Sans as a nice skeleton who just lost his brother and did nothing wrong. That's not the way I see him xD

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you like it! I always draw with Paint Tool SAI.
I used Photoshop for the snow. I tried to follow a tutorial on "animated snow" on Youtube but couldn't animate it the same way as I only have CS2. I could use the filters to create the snow but had to move the layer for each frame. I think I had 50 in the end xD
I can search for the video I used if you want to, but I thinks it's one of the first ones that show up in the list

Thanks, I found it. But I have to improvise a little bit more, I think, because I have "only" Photoshop elements... animating things are a bit complicated with that. But ok, technically, I don't have very much time for animating, and elements is enough for drawing.
I have tried the snow and yes, it really looks like something. Snow. With a little bit improving, it could maybe look as great as yours, I don't need more.

But at the restaurant he even told Frisk that they'd "be dead where they stand", ergo it should be blatantly obvious that Sans is capable of such a thing.. I mean, honestly, Sans is not one to be underestimated; he's a lovable monster, but he's fairly capable of killing..

I do believe Asgore himself killed a few of them, but sure, I doubt that 6 children managed to evade Papyrus... though that probably isn't the hardest thing to do xD

I think he is lazy, but not really nice with human, he not kill Frisk at the begin ONLY because he make a promise, but more you continue the game ( specialy in Pacifist) more you and Sans become friend, afterall, what he say in Judgement Hall in Pacifist Run just touch me in game, prove Frisk and Sans become friend, with time
