Description
Professor Membrane is always working, he never has time to be with his kids. He thinks that recording himself will be a good way to make it seem as if he were home with them. But Dib and Gaz don't want a floating machine, they want their real father there to keep them companyI can relate to that, my parents are never home. My brother and sister see me more as their mom since Im always taking care of them.

I'm glad recent works (movie and comics) depict Membrane as a more active parent, taking occasional family trips together and overall being there for his children.

1-It a miracle it hasn't got to the point where they think the screen is actually their dad.

Yeah, you can totally see this in the episode Bloaty's Pizza Hog when Gaz was willing to go to serious lengths to save Dib just to ensure that Membrane wouldn't postpone their yearly family dinner to the next year. It certainly explains why Dib is obsessed with aliens and Gaz her hand held games and why they're both anti-social. Even though Gaz acts like she hates Dib, they're always hanging out together.

Actually it is revealed by the creator that Dib and Gaz were both created in Membrane's lab so the never had a mother. He created them using his dna

That doesn't mean they couldn't have had a mother. I mean, look at Gaz. No way could she be Membrane's clone. Maybe Dib was, but Gaz was cloned from their mother. It would make more sense wouldn't it?

Kinda but being that from the series perspective, we don't even see a sign of their being a mother. No pictures, no one mentioning her, not even by Membrane or the two children. Someone once said Jhonen confirmed their mother died, however, I looked around to see if this confirmed statement is true and couldn't find anything so that statement could just be misheard or nothing more then a theory.
Also, one doesn't have to be a complete look alike to be a clone nor does one have to act the same way either. Example if you watched Pokemon; Mewtwo is a clone of Mew but doesn't look too much like Mew other then maybe leg structure and psychic powers, and sure as hell his attitude and view of things is nothing like the innocent sweet loving Mew.Β
Being Gaz is very smart (figuring out how to use Irken Technology first hand), she has the same pale skin color as both Dib and Membrane, she has brown eyes just like Dib does, and Membrane tends to favor her more it seems, (Membrane once stated "You're my funny child!") Β it can assume that she is indeed from his DNA. Β Β

I used crayola color pencils and simple black pens for this drawing.
But now for outlining I use sharpies or Pilot Precise V7 Black Rolling Ball Pens, and prismacolor pencils to color.
