Description

My world is a planet pretty similar to earth but of course a bit crazier with imaginative things and such in it. The amounts of continents and islands isn’t set in stone but it will have a few, including the continent umbra is from (marked.) While most people know about it, nobody wants to go there as it is a very harsh and seemingly inhospitable place. It is also mysteriously always shrouded in darkness, although rumors state that moonlight actually shines through. One thing the land is rich in, is energy. It courses through the ground and special light radiating mushrooms grow there. However, all attempts of outsiders to harness this energy have either simply failed or resulted in tragedy. Either the harsh environment got the better of people, or the vicious creatures. As a result, the area had been ignored by the rest of the world for a long time, even getting a myth status.

Over time on the dark continent certain intelligent life began to be evolve. These creatures were not only more intelligent, but also more self-aware. Eventually they decided to work and stay together in order to aid in survival. As generations progressed they became smarter and smarter and dubbed themselves “The People of shadow.” Over time new people, both brave and foolish, decided to seek out the “myth” that was the dark continent. It was everything the rumors had suggested...only now with new curious creatures. The dark people took interest in these visitors as they were nothing like the life in their lands.

While there was only ever a small group of outsiders that would travel to and from the dark continent, culture was exchanged and the dark people grew more prosperous with their new knowledge. However, there wasn’t much for the outsiders to obtain. The energy of the land remained hard to harness and many living samples didn’t survive long off of the dark continent, so there was little to show. Though one group of visitors have been rumored to have found a way to harness a portion of it. In modern day, more people know of the dark continent and its people, but not many, making it one of the more mysterious places on the planet.
