Β By the look on her "face" it tells me that girl's going to become dinner!
Β Nice start though, can't wait to see the next part!

Or maybe it's more of an assimilation, so that girl gives rise to Umbra's more human form?

If Millienne brought Morinne to life, then Morinne brought Umbra to life! The only question is, which shapeshifting female in the future will Umbra bring to life?

However, the girl that Umbra saw, had to copy off her hair, facial, and body frame image in some sort of fashion, no science is needed.

oh that was just to represent umbra looking at people from time to time, and the girl there isn't supposed to be morinne if she looks similar.

That being said, the what-if meeting scenario is a possibility, for both in their new wardrobes respectively.

Of course not purposefully, given how benevolent the Recycler is. Β So maybe it's more of a fusion of equal parts the shadow and the woman, for mutual benefit.

"Umbrella" comes from the same root, and adds a diminutive, making it literally mean "little shadow." Β This makes sense when you think of it, as an umbrella can provide you with a small spot of shade against the sun, besides the obvious function of keeping you dry in the rain.
And "penumbra" is a word that shows up that comes from the roots meaning "almost shadow", and describes a partial shadow, where some but not all of the light from a source is blocked in an area. Β "Umbra" itself is taken into English as a word meaning a complete shadow, though you'd only really see it used in a science text.
It's just fun to know the etymology of words like these.
