Weeks ago, Erik began having sweet, wonderful dreams. In these dreams he was able physically shift his body to match the ebb and flow of his fluid gender from day to day.
One morning, after a particularly rich dream, Erik awoke to discover his nails long and feminine for a moment before shifting back to fingernails he went to sleep with. The next morning his hair was thicker and wild, before shifting back. These strange effects continued for nearly a week, each morning a different trait, holding for a minute or two longer than the day previous. It filled Erik with both excitement and dread each morning as he would wake and rush to the bathroom to discover the newest shift.
Finally, on the eighth morning, Erik awoke to discover not a single shift, change, difference- What had happened? Why had it all ended? Began, in the first place? As poor Erik began to dread the loss of his new, special difference, he felt himself fully enveloped in a tingling warmth. The heat soaked into every cell of his body. With one final, hopeful glance into the mirror, Erik watched as his entire self, inside and out, balanced. Erik changed. Erik(a) now stood in the mirror, equally filled with the bliss of finally being herself and the dread that it may not last...
