well, i think almost all books of him are good - one of the few "science" fiction authors - sometimes he is a bit dry to read, because he actually was a scientist, but on the other hand he really tries to play through as many possible versions as possible - for instance concerning robots, or artificial intelligence a.s.o. the book that came to my mind is "transfer" which is the german title, but i can imagine it might be the same in english... i think his most famous book is solaris which led to at least to different movie versions - still i wouldn´t recommend this as a first book to read of lem... a good beginner could be "sterntagebücher" (star diaries?)...
