And maybe Merrick helped him. Thanks to Merrick, and the blood they now share as well as his memories, Zen-Aku has been able to experience things Orgs never could. I do not believe he is even an Org by the end. He would be more of an evolved being.

The fact he still came back even he was thought to have died should be proof of his bond with Merrick in the end, shouldn't it?
