Can I just say that it was quite clever of you to leave the blank smokebox door? It really implies a form of "unworldliness" and ethereal distance, and is quite jarring to see when all the other engines have faces.

Thank you. I had thought of retaining his face, but it didn't account for it. I wanted Engine 17 to have no comfortable relation with the engines. Seeing him with a face would make him feel more "alive". This is an engine that is meant to be frightening, and having no face has a unsettling appeal to it. He is no longer alive, so has no human treats or emotions anymore. Β

Plus, most people who do customs on these make 'orignul charectors', ughhh... Good to see your interpretation in an environment that actually makes sense, an experimental LMS loco, versus an actual E2. Which didn't look all that close. And didn't work too well either.

The ending of the episode felt (somewhat) like foreshadowing to me. It was very eerie, and I could certainly tell that it was not the end of Engine 17.

You are right. Engine 17 has not gone for good. He'll be reappearing in future episodes. It'll sort of be drawn out like the Fred saga was, but probably not as long.Β

Way scarier than that Timothy crap. One thing I like to do with ghost stories is that the episode that properly introduces them isn't the first time we see them, they make a few appearances prior to the episode to gain people's curiosity of the characters

Who know what happened to E 17's ghost to this very day. Perhaps he has moved on, perhaps he's still haunting the line or the shed or the scrapyard or the workshop from where'd he'd came, perhaps he's tagged along one of the Euston engines and stays with them. I don't, but I hope I never do.
