Description First of three in a mini-project.
This is basically a look at how the Dan Clan and Retsubnad have their own teams in their world, both on opposite sides but with a common role for their personnel.


Danbuster is considered the leader of the Dan Clan - not the brightest of sparks and something of an impish punster who takes few things seriously, but dedicated to standing up for everything good and just, and carrot cheesecake.

Retsubnad is his own driving force in a quest for world-domination - a cunning plotter and a gifted caster of Elemental magic, however his obsession with wanting to be respected drives him to megalomania.

Hey great pic. Danbuster is looking really good now since the last time I viewed your art. Been out of the loop for a while and switching accounts and whatnot. But you have improved a lot.

I have this new method lately of drawing the artwork by hand in pencil, then vector-line tracing and colouring in Flash!
Gives me clean cartoony results!

That's the best way to compose art it seems. I do something similar, but I don't use vector. I actually ink the sketches and scan them, clean them up in Gimp and color in Gimp. But year way sounds better. Eventually I'll work my way up to those techniques. But yeah, your work looks a lot cleaner now.

No, I'm not familiar with Thoronraw. I've been so out of the loop for almost a year now. Just slowly getting back now.

Yup, Danbuster's capable of looking goofy but dignified when he has to...
As for Retsubnad, he just goes out of his way to looking imposing! He feels he deserves such respect!

Not to say that his logo is official in this form... that's just a counterpart. His hare-silhouette logo usually just appears on the wall-hangings of his castle!

According to the way they look, I can tell Danbuster seems to be treating members of his team rather as partners, while Retsubnad must be approving the "rule of an iron hand" ( that the leader has to be obeyed without objection or the team members under his command will feel his rage ).

True enough that Retsubnad pulls no punches when it comes to ruling the world... or at least what he could rule, if Danbuster didn't keep thwarting him...
While Thoronraw is the closest thing he has to a friend, Retsy doesn't take no for an answer and often vents his frustration on his annoying sycophant-sidekick Wally...

As for Danbuster, he tries to be a friend to everyone and particularly values his friends and house-mates Frederick and Spencer! He's often grateful to them for their steadying influence.

Now that looks very nice =3 I love the fuzzy faces you two have and I noticed the logos on the bottom too! Would this mean that Retsy will sabotage any of the future flash animations Danbuster and pals will crank out and then replace it with Retsy's magic or something?

Or are they're posing to see how heroric/badass the two would look? Either way it looks nice

Yeah... I kind of like the guys having cheek-fuzz! Helps to distinguish from the smooth, silky fur of the female cast!

Heh, guess you could say that Retsubnad just created a counterpart-logo to match mine/Danbuster's usual one. That's not to say it's official... outside their universe!
Might still appear on Retsy's own work, of course!

At odds or in an uneasy alliance, Dan and Retsy can certainly match each other for badassery! (If that's even a word)

This is rather good, kinda reminds me of the relationship of the Marvel version of Thor & Loki. Both are Brothers but have their own agendas. They look rather awesome here. Great job.

Great concept indeed, and you've certainly highlighted just how opposite this two are. Nice work on their poses, and I've noticed they're looking a lot more fuzzier than previously - slight tweak to their design?

Yup... as Gimli said of Gandalf and Saruman, "so like and unlike"

There's certainly been some tweaks to the designs, too - the guys now how cheek-fuzz, since it looks cooler that way! I even altered that in their reference-pics!
The raggedness also helps to distinguish a bit from the girls, whose fur is all silky and smooth...
