Description
A character reference for my ferret character, Frederick James Wilkinson.Frederick is from North Yolkshire (anthro parallel of Yorkshire), inspired somewhat by the British sit-com Last of the Summer Wine. He is pretty much a mixture of Compo's pet ferrets and Clegg, with a bit of Redwall otter thrown in.
Orphaned at birth, he was adopted by the Wilkinsons, a river-dwelling family of otters, and raised inclusively as part of their family.
He is Danbuster's long-suffering best friend - the one who always manages to stay calm in a crisis. Half the time, Danbuster is the crisis, but still the ferret sticks by him, acting as a voice of reason and common sense. In the Dan Clan, he also applies the muscle, having grown up physically strong from living the early life of an otter.
He's also a strongly moral character who believes in respecting the ladies (especially his girlfriend Felicity) and saving the hanky-panky till after marriage.

Heather: Well there are rumors that, either Yellowstone Volcano will erupt, the magnets in the earth (or something like that) will change from North to South, South to North and there'll be a huge tremor across the face of the earth or a huge meteorite will hit the earth. Those are only rumors, I don't believe in them my self.

Oh no, not Bloodfur. He'd get on great with Tom or Creamfur, but if he had to face Bloodfur, it would probably be to fight him!
And Frederick's no pushover, so no... Bloodfur wouldn't stab him instantly - in fact, not at all if he could help it!

Yeah, it certainly helps to break up the monotony of stereotypes that folklore and Brian Jacques seem to be notorious for...
I guess part of Frederick's creation was a rebellion against how biased he was in making Veil Sixclaw a bad guy - though I blame his turn for the worse more on distrustful Redwallers that said "no good'll ever come of this 'un"
Retsubnad knows what that's like, just because he looks like a dark version of Danbuster... but as my signature says, I defy stereotypes!

I don't know how other people view it, but I look upon Veil's attempted-poisoning of Friar Bunfold as a moment of revenge when all the abuse he took caused him to snap - and perhaps when hogwife Myryle got poisoned instead, his shock was a show of geniune remorse...
Then after his exile, maybe he robbed Ole Hoffy and his grandmice in desperation because he no longer trusted other creatures - as for the two foxes he later murdered in revenge for their treatment of him... well, I'd probably have done the same in his fur!
Then of course, between Bryony and Swartt, he was forced into a cataclysmic decision - and in retrospect, Bryony was the only person to ever show him kindness so naturally he saved her!
That's my theory, anyway.
