Description These are just some of my spoiler-y thoughts on the episode. But first, if you haven't seen any other episode of the show then DON'T WATCH THIS! You have to have seen at least these 10 episodes (in said order):

1. Tourist Trapped
2. The Hand that Rocks the Mabel
3. The Inconviencing
4. Dreamscrapers
5. Gideon Rises
6. Scary-oke
7. Into the Bunker
8. Sock Opera
9. Society of the Blindeye
10. Northwest Mansion Mystery

SPOILERS:
Ok good. Now I can say stuff I want. Like...HOLY CRAP! The Stanley theory was true! That reveal at the end was absolutely perfect. The music, tone, dialogue, and mmmmmm..... Also, That one part where Dipper and Mabel see the "STAN PINES DEAD" article, I nearly lost it. Not only is that really dark and uncomfortable (not to mention the description was unsettling) but they're reactions were simply as perfectly real as possible. And that scene with Stan in the government interrogation room was extremely badass and showed off Stan's quick wit. And when it didn't feel right to see all the main characters to basically turn on each other. Especially during that climax. That climax was masterful. Seeing both Dipper and Soos fight Stan was a testement of "This ain't playtime, motherfucker." Mabel had a fantastic part at the end (and a lot of that to her VA, Kristen Schaal). Seeing her cry was really emotional, and I loved that part at the end of Stan's speech where the music stops dead and Mabel says "...I trust you." Boom. A huge explosion and a mysterious figure comes out of the portal. He puts his six fingered hand on Journal 1, and puts it in his coat pocket. Where Stan reveals "It's the author of the journals... My brother." The figure removes his mask to reveal a man that looks similar to Stan. Episode ends on the fans' reaction and a simple end credits scene of the young brothers on the swingset near the sea. Just...perfection this episode couldn't have been done better. I don't know what will happen next but I know one thing's for sure. It won't ever be the same again.

Here's a question, what if Disney cancelled Gravity Falls before this cliffhanger could be resolved? Β It could happen, the ALF episode Consider Me Gone was supposed to be part one of a two part finale, but NBC pulled the plug before the resolution could air leaving a generation of viewers to assume that the lovable alien was going to be cut up to satisfy a scientific curiosity.

ABC eventually resolved that cliffhanger with Project ALF in 1996, but by that point, I assume most of the fans had moved on.

Ok. That was kinda outta left field. But, a few things. 1) Gravity Falls has a very large and EXTREMELY dedicated fanbase. Cancelling it would be one of their biggest mistakes. 2) With the Internet nowadays, if Gravity Falls was cancelled. Alex Hirsch could secretly (or obviously) leak the rest of the finished episodes and/or what the story was leading up to. 3) It still would have almost no effect on people's opinions on the show. The series has a very large plot, but that's not all there is. There's the characters, the humor, setting, and basically everything else. I'll still watch the hell out of the show, and so will most everyone else.

For what it's worth, even the folks at NBC said in retrospect that they had made a mistake cancelling ALF. Β That show still had a season left in the tank.

Ok. I still believe that Gravity Falls won't be cancelled. At least not now.
