Description I found a really nice tutorial on Tumblr about how a one of the artists I follow draw gemstones. I then proceeded to spend the whole day working on them and practicing. Honestly, I think it payed off! I really love how clean they look; they look pretty and complex like a real gem, but the method makes them...manageable. Have any of you tried to draw a gemstone from reference? Because I have, and I gave up. There are so many triangles and shades, it would take an entire day to accurately draw one! And even then, I don't WANT to draw them realistically; I want stylization!

A keen eye will probably notice that there's only 7 unique gems in this piece; the rest are rotations and color shifts of the originals. They still look pretty nice with the color shift, and when the one on the top right gave me trouble. I got this cool looking multicolor effect from it. It looks like alexandrite, or something. Anyways, here's a link to the tutorial I learned this from:

She has a search function, so type 'tutorial' into that and it should be the first thing to pop up.
